Seattle Seahawks linebacker Leroy Hill will miss a few weeks with a sprained knee, Gregg Bell of the Associated Press reports.

Hill was injured during a goal-line drill earlier this week, the latest in what has been rough summer, health-wise, for Seahawks linebackers.

Three-time Pro Bowl middle linebacker Lofa Tatupu has been out with a hamstring injury, and 2009 first-round pick Aaron Curry missed 10 practices with a concussion. First-year linebacker Anthony Heygood tore his Achilles tendon during warm-ups the day after he re-signed to the roster.

Health has been an issue for Hill, increasingly so over the last three seasons, where Hill has played in 14, 12, and 11 games. Hill missed all but 8 snaps of the first six weeks of the 2009 season with a groin injury, and finished the season with a career-low 46 tackles and just one quarterback sack after signing a six-year, $36 million contract extension.

Regardless of health, Hill will miss the 2010 season-opener with a one-game suspension related to his drug possession arrest in Georgia in February of 2009.

Hill was arrested in April and is facing assault/domestic violence charges. His next court date in that case is scheduled for August 20, and the Prosecutor and Issaquah (WA) police are currently investigating whether or not Hill has tampered with or intimidated the witness, his former live-in girlfriend.

Hill could face further league discipline once his latest legal issue is resolved.

Provided that Tatupu and Curry are healthy, Hill's spot in the starting lineup will be filled by David Hawthorne, Seattle's leading tackler in 2009. Hawthorne, an undrafted free agent out of TCU in 2008, started at middle linebacker when Tatupu had an injury hamstring, and when Tatupu landed on injured reserve with a torn pectoral muscle.
