Report: Redskins to Sign DT Greg Peterson

Chris Russell of 106.7 in Washington, D.C., via ProFootballTalk.com, reports that the Washington Redskins will soon sign free agent defensive tackle Greg Peterson.

Peterson was a fifth-round pick (141st overall) in 2007 out of North Carolina Central by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Peterson appeared in 10 games during his rookie season, and was credited with 12 tackles and 1.5 quarterback sacks. Peterson only appeared in two games for the Buccaneers during his second season, and was waived midway through last year's training camp.

Signed by the Jaguars in Week 4 of the 2009 season, Peterson made one tackle in two games for the Jaguars, who did not extend the restricted free with a qualifying offer, granting him unrestricted free agency.

The timing of Peterson's impending signing with the Redskins is curious, as he's reportedly one of 17 players currently trying out for the Seattle Seahawks during their pre-draft mini-camp this week.
