Redskins ST Coach Danny Smith to Remain With Team

Washington Redskins special teams coach Danny Smith will remain with the team, Chris Russell of ESPN-980 AM reports.

A holdover who was retained for head coach Mike Shanahan's inaugural season with the Redskins, Smith's contract expires after the Super Bowl. Shanahan has indicated that he wants his entire coaching staff back for next season.

Russell adds that Denver Broncos head coach John Fox made Smith a lucrative offer to join his staff.

2010 was Smith's seventh season with the Redskins, and 12th season coordinating an NFL special teams unit. Smith coached the Philadelphia Eagles' special teams units in the late 90s, and the Buffalo Bills' special teams from 2001-03.
