Raiders Waive Rookie Safety

The Oakland Raiders have waived rookie safety Stevie Brown, reports Jerry McDonald of the Bay Area News Group.

Brown was signed off the Raiders' practice squad on Saturday, with offensive tackle Erik Pears' contract terminated to make room on the 53-man roster. Brown was active in Sunday's win over the St. Louis Rams, and was credited with a tackle while covering a fourth quarter punt.

Pears could be re-signed, as McDonald notes that his locker remains intact.

A seventh-round pick out of Michigan, the 5-11, 211-pound Brown totaled six tackles, two interceptions, and a fumble recovery during the pre-season.
