Patriots Closing In On Deals With 2nd Rounders

The New England Patriots may have all three of their second-round picks signed before the end of the weekend.

ESPNBoston.com's Mike Reiss reports that the New England Patriots may have all three of their second-round picks signed before the end of the weekend.

Patriots rookies are due to report to Gillette Stadium for the start of training camp on Sunday. New England's veterans are scheduled to report on July 28.

Once the Patriots can get their second round picks--tight end Rob Gronkowski and linebackers Jermaine Cunningham and Brandon Spikes--signed, they can then turn their full attention towards first-round cornerback Devin McCourty, who is in in the Boston area awaiting a contract.

Four players chosen in the first two rounds of the 2010 NFL Draft have signed thus far. New England could double that total, which may also help the Cleveland Browns, whose rookies reported to camp on Friday, get their two second-round picks signed before their veterans report on the 30th.
