It really comes as no surprise to see Eli Manning lobbying publicly for the Giants to trade for Braylon Edwards. Even with all his horrible drops factored in, Edwards is light-years more talented than any receiver currently on the Giants' roster, but more than that, Manning doesn't want to repeat the last month of 2008, when defenses no longer had to worry about keeping a safety over the top of Plaxico and were free to bring 8 or even 9 down in the box to stop the Giants' vaunted running game. Once that happened, the other perimeter players failed to make plays for Manning and offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride.
