McDaniels Hires Former College Teammate

Before embarking on an NFL coaching career, Denver Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels played wide receiver at Division III John Carroll University in Ohio. Washington Redskins Pro Bowl middle linebacker London Fletcher was a teammate, as was current New England Patriots Director of Player Personnel Nick Caserio, who beat out McDaniels for the Blue Streaks' starting quarterback job.

Another player on those John Carroll teams from the mid-to-late-90s was wide receiver Dave Ziegler, a three-time Division III All-American wide receiver/return specialist.

Like Caserio and McDaniels, Ziegler pursued a coaching career when his college career ended, and has now accepted an offer to join the Broncos' personnel department. Ziegler spent the previous four years as a running backs and special teams coach at Scottsdale Chaparral High School, who were the Arizona 5A-II champions in 2009.
