Lions Release G Manny Ramirez

Tom Kowalski of MLive.com reports the Detroit Lions have released guard Manny Ramirez.

As Kowalski notes, Ramirez was one of the few remnants of the Matt Millen Era on the Lions' 53-man roster.

A fourth-round pick (117th overall) out of Texas Tech, the 6-3, 326-pound Ramirez started 15 of the 18 games he was active for the Lions, including 12 starts in 13 games last season. Ramirez was not eligible for unrestricted free agency this off-season, and had tendered at the "Original Round" level, which was paying him a $1.101 million base salary in 2010.

Ramirez did not dress for any of the Lions' four games this season.

To replace Ramirez, the Lions claimed offensive tackle Jamon Meredith off waivers from the Buffalo Bills.
