Lions Release G Daniel Loper
By admin
John Niyo of the Detroit News reports the Detroit Lions have released guard Daniel Loper.
Loper was a restricted free agent who had already signed his one-year tender, but the team's acquisition of guard Rob Sims from the Seattle Seahawks made Loper expendable. Unlike franchise tags, the restricted free agent tenders are not guaranteed.
A fifth-round pick (150th overall) out of Texas Tech by the Tennessee Titans in 2005, Loper signed a one-year deal with the Lions last off-season. The Lions had tendered at the "Right of First Refusal" level this off-season, which would have paid Loper $1.226 million dollars in 2010.
