Lions HC Jim Schwartz to Fine Players for Fighting
By admin
Tom Kowalski of MLive.com reports that after three fights broke out during the two-minute drill of the final Detroit Lions practice of mini-camp, head coach Jim Schwartz is going to dip into the players' wallets.
"We had that situation come up in OTAs and we sort of laughed that you can't fine the players. But guess what? There are going to be a lot of fines from today. It's not acceptable what happened," Schwartz said. "When you have guys entering fights that aren't involved in it, you know, that's unacceptable. They're going to get taxed pretty heavy for that."
Though still competitive, last practices of the off-season are usually like the last day of school, so it's surprising that the Lions' final practice involved fisticuffs to the point where Schwartz was "yanking" players out of the piles.
Training camp with this group should be fun.
