La Canfora Corrects Griffen Report

Towards the end of last night's draft coverage on the NFL Network, Jason La Canfora reported that the New England Patriots had called USC defensive end Everson Griffen to tell him that they were poised to take him with their next selection.

The Patriots traded that pick, and Ian Rapoport of the Boston Herald reported the Patriots' denial that they had contacted Griffen.

"It did not happen," a spokesman told Rapoport.

Obviously, news that the Patriots had called Griffen might prompt other NFL teams to move ahead of the Patriots to select him. This morning, La Canfora is correcting the record.

"Pats didnt call Everson Griffen. My bad....Got bad info there. Been a long few days and looking forward to Day 3," La Canfora posted on Twitter, and surely he'll offer a correction when the NFL Network begins it's live coverage of the draft's final day at 9am ET.
