Jets Sign Five to "Reserve/Future" Contracts

enny Vrentas of The Star-Ledger reported on Wednesday that the New York Jets worked out 14 players on Tuesday.

The agents for two--linebacker Joey LaRocque and defensive tackle Carlton Powell--announced that their clients signed "Reserve/Future" contracts with the team. According to a league source, running back Chris Jennings, linebacker Brian Toal, and cornerback Ellis Lankster have also signed future contracts with the Jets.

Jennings (5-10, 218) ran for 220 yards and a touchdown on 63 carries in nine games for the 2009 Cleveland Browns, who had signed him as an undrafted free agent out of Arizona.

Lankster (5-9, 191) was a seventh-round pick out of West Virginia by the Buffalo Bills in 2009. In 10 games as a rookie, Lankster totaled five tackles and a pass defensed. Released at the end of 2010 training camp, Lanskter spent the Fall with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League.

Undrafted out of Boston College, Toal has spent the last two seasons with the Las Vegas Locomotives of the United Football League.

One other player on Vrentas' workout list, defensive end Adrian Awasom, has signed a future contract with the Minnesota Vikings.
