Jets Sign DL Jarron Gilbert Off Practice Squad

The New York Jets have signed defensive lineman Jarron Gilbert off the practice squad, the team announced on Thursday.

Gilbert takes the roster spot created when wide receiver Patrick Turner was waived on Wednesday.

A third-round pick out of San Jose State by the Chicago Bears in 2009, Gilbert appeared in four games for the Bears last season, but was waived at the end of this year's training camp. The Jets signed Gilbert to their practice squad, where the 6-5, 285-pounder has spent the majority of the season.

Gilbert had a four-week stint on the Jets' active roster this season, but did not appear in any games.
