Jason Taylor's Agent Disputes ESPN Report

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported this morning that the Miami Dolphins made a contract offer to Jason Taylor after the 2009 season concluded, which included an $850,000 raise in base salary.

Taylor's agent, Gary Wichard, disputes the report, Ethan Skolnick of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports, claiming that the Dolphins made an offer in November, which Taylor admitted to happening during his press conference this week, but that offer did not carry-over into the 2010 off-season.

"Once the season was over, so was the offer," Wichard told Skolnick. "It stayed on the table until the end of the season. It had to do with cap money in 2009.

"There was no opportunity. We had no contract offer from the Dolphins. He chose the only contract available to him from any team in the NFL."

ESPN reports Taylor's two-year deal contains a $1.75M base salary in 2010, and a $750,000 guarantee in 2011. The deal can be worth as much as $13 million dollars, provided Taylor triggers incentives in the contract.
