The New York Giants have signed free agent kicker Shayne Graham, the team announced on Saturday.

Rookie wide receiver Victor Cruz has been placed on injured reserve.

Graham, who spent the summer with the Baltimore Ravens, was signed as insurance for injured kicker Lawrence Tynes, who sprained his non-kicking ankle in practice on Friday.

After brief stints with the Buffalo Bills and Carolina Panthers, Graham spent the previous seven seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals. In nine NFL seasons, Graham has connected on 196-of-230 field goal attempts, earning Pro Bowl honors after the 2005 seasons.

Graham was 23-of-28 on field goals for the Bengals last season, but was not re-signed after missing on two chip-shot field goals during a playoff loss to the New York Jets.
