Giants Reach Deal With 4th Round LB Phillip Dillard

The New York Giants have agreed to terms with fourth-round linebacker Phillip Dillard, the team announced on Tuesday.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

A two-year starter (17 games) at the University of Nebraska, the 6-0, 245-pound Dillard earned honorable mention All-Big 12 honors after posting 83 tackles, including 11 for a loss and 3 quarterback sacks, with three pass break-ups in nine games as a senior.

Dillard missed the 2006 season with a torn ACL, the final four games of the 2008 season with an ankle injury, and was limited at the Combine with a pectoral, but Dillard ran a 4.65-40 and impressed scouts with his athleticism and smarts. Dillard will begin his NFL career on special teams, but could be the Giants' middle linebacker of the future.

Dillard is the third member of the Giants' 2010 draft class to agree to terms, joining third-round safety Chad Jones and sixth-round linebacker Adrian Tracy, who signed a four-year contract earlier on Tuesday.
