Giants DE Dave Tollefson Gets No Sympathy From Mom

New York Giants defensive end Dave Tollefson sprained the medial collateral ligament in his knee during Sunday's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, but received no sympathy from his mother, Mike Garafolo of The Star-Ledger reports.

"You can’t tape it up? I didn’t fly in from California to watch you ride the pine," Tollefson's mother said, according to her ailing son. "I’m like, 'Mom, I’m hurt.' She’s like, 'I don’t give a (bleep). Get it taped up, get the hell in there. I don’t want to hear it.'".

Tollefson did not participate in Wednesday's practice, and is not expected to play this Sunday against the Green Bay Packers.

In 13 games this season, Tollefson has 20 tackles and a share of a quarterback sack. 13 of Tollefson's tackles, and one of his two forced fumbles, have come as a member of the Giants' special teams units, which were burned by Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson for a game-winning punt return touchdown on Sunday.

Not that even a healthy Tollefson could have made a difference.

"I got taken off punt a couple of weeks ago," said Tollefson. "I don’t know why but I did. I would have loved to be in."
