Free Agent CB Glenn Sharpe Arrested on Drug, Gun Charges

Free agent cornerback Glenn Sharpe was arrested and charged with illegal possession of a narcotic and possession of a weapon during a felony, Raisa Hasbersham of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Pulled over for speeding on Wednesday night, police discovered Metronidazole inside a prescription bottle that also included several Vicodin pills. Sharpe was also in possession of a .9mm pistol.

Sharpe is being held on $11,400 bail.

Signed by the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Miami, Sharpe spent much of his first season in the NFL on the team's practice squad. Sharpe was activated late in the season, but did not appear in a game.

Sharpe spent half of the 2009 season on the Falcons' practice squad before being waived with an injury. Sharpe joined the New Orleans Saints practice squad for the playoffs, earning a Super Bowl ring, but was cut on June 21 and has yet to find a new NFL home.
