Former 49ers GM to Join Seahawks Front Office

Former San Francisco 49ers general manager Scot McCloughan will join the Seattle Seahawks' front office, ESPN's Mike Sando reports.

What McCloughan's title and role in Seattle's front office will be has yet to be determined.

"It's huge for us because Scot is one of the most respected personnel people in the league," Seahawks general manager John Schneider said Monday. "He played a critical role in helping the Seahawks become a Super Bowl team [in 2005] and did a great job in rebuilding the 49ers over the last few years.

"We're very fortunate to add someone of Scot's caliber," Schneider added. "Scot is not only an experienced leader but he is also extremely loyal."

McCloughan was the Seahawks' director of college scouting when the 49ers hired him away in 2005. McCloughan departed the 49ers in March, citing undisclosed personal reasons, and was replaced by Trent Baalke.

Schneider and McCloughan worked together in the Green Bay Packers' front office during the mid-1990s and again in Seattle in 2000.
