Finance Committee Approves Jaguars Naming Rights Deal

Jacksonville Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver sent word to the Jacksonville City Council Finance Committee that if they approve the naming rights deal the team has reached with EverBank, the team will re-pay the 25% share of revenue to the city if the franchise moves within 5 years.

By forgoing their share of the revenue, the city of Jacksonville is passing on $4 million over the five-year span of the agreement.

The measure passed by a 5-1 vote, Tia Mitchell of the Florida Times-Union reports. Four votes were needed to get the measure out of committee.

Council member Ronnie Fussell voted against the proposal, Mitchell adds.
