Eagles to Sign DT Jeff Owens Off Practice Squad

Philadelphia Eagles practice squad defensive tackle Jeff Owens will join the 53-man roster this week.

"Just found out that I will be playing on Sunday!!!!," Owens tweeted.

Owens was a seventh-round pick (243rd overall) in the 2010 NFL Draft out of Georgia. The 6-1, 304-pound defensive tackle had a pair of tackles, including a sack/forced fumble during the pre-season, but was placed on waivers when the Eagles cut their roster to 53 players on September 4.

Owens has been on the Eagles' practice squad the last five weeks, and will take the place of Brodrick Bunkley, who will undergo season-ending surgery on his left elbow.
