Cowboys NT Josh Brent Breaks Finger

Dallas Cowboys nose tackle Josh Brent broke the ring finger on his right hand during the Cowboys' morning practice session on Sunday, Gerry Fraley of the Dallas Morning News reports.

Fraley adds that Brent will be fitted with a protective splint, and could return to action in a few days. The 6-2, 318-pound defensive lineman is vying for a roster spot, and will not be able to afford a prolonged absence this summer.

Dallas used a 2011 seventh-round pick to select Brent in the the Supplemental Draft on July 15, and signed him to a four-year, $1.837 million dollar contract on Friday.
