Cowboys Agree to Terms With 1st Round WR Dez Bryant

The Dallas Cowboys have agreed to terms with first-round wide receiver Dez Bryant.

Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network reports the Dallas Cowboys have agreed to terms with first-round wide receiver Dez Bryant.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

The 6-2, 224-pound receiver from Lufkin, Texas caught 147 passes for 2,425 yards and 29 touchdowns in just over two seasons at Oklahoma State.

Bryant’s best season came in 2008, when the sophomore set a school-record with 87 receptions and 19 receiving touchdowns, with his 1,480 receiving yards ranking as the second-most in OSU history. Bryant also averaged 15.3 yards per punt return in ’08, returning two punts for touchdowns.

A first-team All-Big 12 selection that season, Bryant was also consensus first-team All-American selection.

Bryant’s college career ended when he was ruled ineligible five games into the 2009 season for lying to investigators about his relationship with Hall of Fame cornerback Deion Sanders, who in addition to mentoring many young athletes from the Dallas area, is also close with player agent Eugene Parker.

Bryant chose Parker to represent him in the NFL.

A left hamstring injury prevented Bryant from working out at the 2010 Scouting Combine, but during a pro day in Lufkin, Bryant was clocked at 4.52 in the 40-yard dash, and posted a 38” vertical leap and 11’01” broad jump. That speed and athleticism, combined with his size and film, made Bryant the top receiving the 2010 NFL Draft.

Bryant is currently behind Roy Williams as the starter opposite Miles Austin, but the rookie will see significant playing time this season, and it wouldn’t at all surprising to see Bryant surpass Williams on the depth chart in 2010.

Bryant becomes the first player chosen in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft to sign or agree to terms. With the Bryant deal nearly wrapped up, second-round linebacker Sean Lee is the only Cowboys' 2010 draft pick without a contract, though one should be reached shortly.

Things got much easier for the Packers to close the deal on Bulaga.

Now I expect him to sign prior to TC.
