Cowboys Address Shoulder Pads Issue

Dallas Cowboys first-round wide receiver Dez Bryant didn't carry anyone else's pads, or speak to the media, but Roy Williams and head coach Wade Phillips did address the subject, Todd Archer of the Dallas Morning News reports.

"Not a big thing," Williams said of the shoulder pad issue. "A big story but not big for us...It's Dez. Vs. Roy, that's the big story, that's the big deal. And that's not how it should be."

"If they don't believe they have to do it, then they don't have to do it," Phillips said. "Hazing, certainly is carrying it too far, but making someone uncomfortable is too far, in my opinion."

Cowboys tight end Jason Witten said the matter is being handled internally.

"We'll take care of that in house, that's for sure," Witten said on Monday. "It'll be taken care of. We addressed it this morning, and that's all I've got to say about it. It's been taken care of, rest assured."

Something tells me that had Witten, or Miles Austin, asked Bryant to carry his pads, we wouldn't be talking about this issue, which is exactly why this is an issue.
