Colts OL Tony Ugoh Moving Inside

Indianapolis Colts offensive lineman Tony Ugoh, once thought to be the team's future at left tackle, is moving to guard, reports Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star.

"I told 'em wherever they needed me," Ugoh said. "My big thing this year is I want to play. I don't care where it's at.

"This is my first go at guard," said Ugoh. "But it's just one step over (from tackle). I'll be all right."

Ugoh has started 27 of his 37 career games since being chosen with the 42nd overall pick of the 2007 NFL Draft out of Arkansas. That the 6-5, 301-pound Ugoh is having to move inside to get back on the field may be viewed by some as a negative. In actuality, Ugoh is a prime example for why drafting college tackles is always a sound draft strategy, as those players have the ability to move inside, while college guards rarely, if ever, give teams the flexibility to play outside.

Ugoh is entering the final year of his rookie contract, which will pay him $690,000 this season.
