Chargers Lose LB Donald Butler for the Season

The San Diego Chargers announced that rookie linebacker Donald Butler will miss the season after sustaining an Achilles injury during Tuesday's practice.

"He’s a heck of a kid and a talented guy that I think was going to be a part of what we do," Norv Turner said, accordingto Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune. "Obviously, we’ve been through this. We’ve got to find a way to get the other guys involved. I think we have enough guys in there."

San Diego traded up to select Butler, a 6-1, 245-pound inside linebacker from the University of Washington, with the 79th overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. The Chargers are deep at linebacker, but Butler Butler was expected to contribute on special teams as a rookie, and was thought to see some additional time as a pass-rushing linebacker.
