Chargers DL Travis Johnson Signs RFA Tender

San Diego Chargers restricted free agent defensive lineman Travis Johnson has signed his one-year tender, Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

The 16th overall pick out of Florida State University by the Houston Texans in 2005, Johnson was tendered at the "Original Round" level. If the 6-3, 311-pound Johnson makes the Chargers' 53-man roster, he'll earn $1.226 million dollars in 2010.

After totaling 106 tackles, including 2 quarterback sacks, during his four seasons in the NFL, the Texans shipped Johnson to the Chargers last August in exchange for a conditional sixth-round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. In 13 games for the Chargers, Johnson was credited with 16 tackles, including three for a loss.

Johnson failed to meet the minimum playing-time percentage required for the draft choice the Texans acquired from Chargers to increase to a fifth-round selection. The Texans used the sixth-round pick (197th overall) on LSU wide receiver/return specialist Trindon Holliday.

Chargers restricted free agents Shawne Merriman, Marcus McNeill, Vincent Jackson, and Malcolm Floyd have yet to sign their one-year tenders.
