Buccaneers OT Donald Penn Does Not Sign RFA Tender

Tampa Bay Buccaneers restricted free agent offensive tackle Donald Penn did not sign his one-year tender, and is undecided as to whether or not he'll attend training camp, Rick Stroud of the St. Petersburg Times reports.

Stroud adds that the Buccaneers will reduce the amount of Penn's tender to 110% of his 2009 base salary.

Penn, who was tendered at the exclusive "First- and Third-Round" level for the second straight off-season, was set to earn $3.168 million dollars in 2010. Instead, his tender will now be worth $3.0712 million dollars, a $96,800 reduction on the season, or $5,694 per week loss in income.

An undrafted free agent out of Utah State, Penn (6-5, 305) has started 44 straight games at left tackle for the Buccaneers. If Penn, who earned nearly $3 million dollars last season, has a prolonged holdout, the Buccaneers would need to rely on Demar Dotson, James Les, and Xavier Fulton to protect second-year quarterback Josh Freeman's blindside.
