Browns Sign 3rd Round G Shawn Lauvao

The Cleveland Browns have reached a four-year deal with third-round guard Shawn Lauvao.

The Cleveland Browns have reached a four-year deal with third-round guard Shawn Lauvao, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer reports.

Per Cabot, Lauvao received a $697,000 signing bonus, making his four-year deal worth $2.487 million dollars.

Lauvao became a starter early in his second season at Arizona State, and would finish his college career with 33 consecutive starts at multiple positions along the Sun Devils’ offensive line. Initially a starting left guard, Lauvao moved to right tackle at the end of the ’08 season, and spent his senior season at left tackle.

Lauvao was an All Pac-10 honorable mention after the ’08 season, and earned second-team honors after last season.

In Cleveland, the 6-3, 315-pounder from Honolulu, who did 33 reps on the bench press at the 2010 Scouting Combine, will primarily be looked at either guard position, but could play right tackle and back-up Alex Mack at center.

Lauvao is the fourth Browns 2010 draft pick to sign or agree to terms, but Cabot adds that the Browns are close on a deal with third-round quarterback Colt McCoy.
