The Chicago Bears announced that they have signed center/guard Edwin Williams off their practice squad.

First-year guard Johan Asiata has been waived.

Williams (6-3, 317) signed with the Redskins as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Maryland last spring. The Washington, D.C.-native spent much of his rookie season on the gameday inactive list, but did dress for three games and made a pair of starts in the second half of the season.

The Bears claimed Williams off waivers on September 1 before waiving and re-signing him to their practice squad on September 4 and 5.

Signed by the Bears as an undrafted free agent out of UNLV last season, Asiata spent his entire rookie year on the Bears' practice squad before making the 53-man roster this season. Asiata was active for both of the Bears' games this season.
