Bears Announce Hiring of Tim Ruskell

The Chicago Bears announced that they have hired Tim Ruskell to be their next Director of Player Personnel.

Ruskell essentially fills a position that was previously held by Bobby DePaul, who was fired by the Bears in February.

Bears general manager Jerry Angelo has a lengthy relationship with Ruskell, dating back to 1987, when both entered the Tampa Bay Buccaneers front office. Angelo was the Director of Player Personnel for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 1987-2000 before becoming the Bears' general manager in 2001. Ruskell replaced Angelo as the Buccaneers' Director of Player Personnel before following Rick McKay to the Atlanta Falcons in 2004.

Ruskell was the Seattle Seahawks president from 2005 until last December, when he tendered his resignation after being informed that his contract would not be renewed following the 2009 season.
