49ers Hire Offensive Coordinator

San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh has begun to assemble his staff, hiring former Stanford assistant Greg Roman to coordinate the offense, Daniel Brown of the Mercury News reports.

Roman wore many hats during his two seasons at Stanford, coaching tight ends, offensive tackles, and coordinating the running game in 2009 before adding an assistant head coach offense title in 2010.

Prior to joining Harbaugh's staff in 2009, Roman spent 13 years as an NFL assistant coach.

Roman spent seven seasons in various roles with the Carolina Panthers before coaching tight ends (2002-03) and quarterbacks (2004-05) with the Houston Texans. Roman was an assistant offensive line coach with the Baltimore Ravens for two seasons, as well.

Former Stanford defensive coordinator Vic Fangio is also expected to join Harbaugh's staff shortly.
