Time to spread the love (or lack thereof) around a bit this Saturday morning. Here's six Packer stories to sound off on. We got tall-boys today.

The Six-Pack

1. Cheesehead TV hates Aaron Kampman

In an article titled "Kampan: Not As Good As Advertised" CHTV argues that defensive end Aaron Kampan is good but not great.

"But when the chips are down, when the Packers absolutely need a sack, and Kampman is going against something more than a journeyman, you can forget it."

I'll be one of the few to agree with CHTV that Kampan has not acheived elite status, nor will he ever. On the flip side, he is a stand up guy, the hardest worker you'll ever not meet, and a consummate professional. Pick your poison Nagler... and be happy about it. On that note...

2. Greg Bedard hates Greg Jennings

Not really, but he obviously isn't wearing any blinders. Yesterday, I was looking over some receiver rankings in the National Football Post. Greg Jennings is ranked behind such names as Lee Evans and Roddy White. Bedard holds the opinion that the list is fairly accurate.

"Don't see anyone on there I'd rank him ahead of. Maybe Housh because he's more possession. But he doesn't drop passes."

Greg Jennings will strike him down when he least expects it. Karma came full cirlce later in the day when Bedard got owned on Twitter.

3. Brain Carriveau continues to avoid the Favre drama.

I have to give Rail Bird Central a little credit here. Not a Favre related story has appeared on this blog in recent memory. The bigger question is why? Does Brian not believe in the hype? Is he a Favre guy in disguise? This is the man who hates Quinn Johnson you know.

Seriously though, while most are talking about Brett, Brian has been amassing a pretty decent chunk of non-Favre related stories lately. Including finding this video of Mark Murphy getting crushed (in the gazoomba's) in dodgeball.

4. Here is some more Favre news... sorta.

I understand that everyone (including us) like to ride the Favre train, but Scott Hanson of the NFL Network needs to keep it current.

"At one point, according to the source, Favre got passionate on the phone, telling Goodell, "He (Thompson) doesn't want me going to Minnesota, because he knows I'll kick his ass twice a year!"

Way to bust out a quote from last year to light that fire. Can you say desperate for anything? On a side note, there is a nice little video of the Favre injury from a doctor's perspective. It's worth a watch.

5. Nick Collins IS skipping workouts for contract reasons.

Let's finally put this puppy to rest. There was a little debate on the Packers Lounge chatbox this week about the Nick Collins situation. After recently citing personal issues as the reason for his absence earlier in the season, his agent in no uncertain terms says that Nick is sitting out because of his contract.

"Collins's agent told Wilde that Collins has legitimate family issues but that he would not be attending the off-season program regardless of any family matters. The agent also said that Collins would not attend the organized team activities later this month if the team isn't willing to discuss a new deal."

Sorry Pack93z, I am not ready to take back my "Collins is a douche" statement just yet. It's ALWAYS about the money.

6. NFL Power Rankings

It's never too early to look at power rankings, and I love it when the Packers are what I consider underdogs.

"I'm shocked the Packers won only six games last year. It just showed how valuable a piece of their puzzle Cullen Jenkins was. At 6-2 and 305 pounds and with good lateral quickness, he should come back from the torn pectoral that caused him to miss 12 games last year and play very well in the new 3-4. This is a team with far better talent than six wins, and I expect Aaron Rodgers to be better in the fourth quarter this year than last, by the sheer experience factor."

I think the CBS rankings are a far better gauge than Peter King's rankings. The Bears at #4? Come on.

1. I don't think that Kampman has by any means reached Hall of Fame status, but I disagree that he is "not as good as advertised" If anything, he is under rated.
2. Well, he did drop a lot of passes last year.
3. Mark Murphy should have caught that. I miss dodge ball.
4. Interesting video. I find it hard to believe that Favre's arm would be just as functional with a ruptured tendon. But thats what I have been hearing from more than one doctor.
5. Douche.
6. Where is #6?

6. Just for fun, here's Peter King's Pre Season power rankings from last year:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writers/peter_king/05/02/rankings/...

" Green Bay. This pick is predicated on two assumptions: That Aaron Rodgers is almost as good for 16 weeks as he was for one half in Dallas last November and that Ryan Grant's last eight weeks of 2007 are no mirage. If Rodgers can play and Grant can stay upright for 16 weeks, this is an 11-win team, or better."

I would say Rodgers lived up to expectations. Grant on the other hand...King has a point.

Pick my poison? Like when I stated, in the SECOND LINE of the post: He’s a great story, a great man, and a great football player. ?

I realize this notion is hard for some of the slower ones in the blogosphere to wrap their heads around, but you CAN think that someone is a great football player yet still deficient in certain areas.

I read your post many times. It is far more fun this way. I understand the "notion" that players are good and yet deficient. But, that would be ALL players except for two or three. So, why bother hammering Kamp?

Also, you Mr. Nagler know better than anyone that NOBODY gets non-Packer friendly contracts anymore. Hardly a concern.

Like I said, I agree for the most part. But, why not pick on somebody else more worthy of dissection?

Everybody is 'worthy' of dissection. Everybody.

Especially mediocre pass rusher Aaron Kampman, who is known around the league as one of the best pass rushers. Go get em!

"Sorry Pack93z, I am not ready to take back my ”Collins is a douche” statement just yet. It’s ALWAYS about the money."

So Nick says it is about the family.. as quoted this week. His agent, whom is probably need of an influx of cash with a new signing bonus says it is all about the contract.

And Nick is being a clear cut jerk..maybe but I think the only thing that is very apparent is Nick and his agent need to get on the same page publicly,

I could be wrong, happens often, but we shall see how it plays out soon. Just don't let O'Shea start to metaphorically write about it though.. no joke intended.

i like brandon marshall. i think he is SUPER talented. but he absolutley disappeared in MANY games last year. to put him above jennings is a friggin joke. i saw a list the other day that had jennings at #9 overall. i think tha is a more accurate ranking.

Yeah, NFL Network Michael Fabiano's list is much better IMO.
Jennings is the 9th receiver (I just disagree that Roddy White is better. One could argue that with Driver jennings gets less balls than White does in Atlanta, But they're a run based team and just got Gonzo...), Rodgers the 5th QB and Grant the 29th RB. Grant could be rated higher based on what he can do, but can be rated lower based on what he did last year.
But overrall I pretty much agree with him... And I hope he's wrong about Crosby, because if he's indeed 3rd K, it means we're not getting a lot of red zone sucess...

Ryan Grant is treading very close to busts-ville. I just plain don't like him. I think he's overrated. He let us down last season, it just so happened to be right after he got paid. I know some people think he'll do well but I think he'll have another average season. Brandon Jackson is pretty much already a bust. Yes he did some stuff last season, but it's not worth writing home about (or in his case maybe it was). When are we gonna get someone with real speed to be our RB? Ted's got it all wrong.

How can an undrafted free agent that was going to be on the Giants practice squad be overrated?

By holding out for a bigger contract, making headlines about it then gettin injured early and never really producing on a high level, No?

i don't know that you could ever consider a guy who we took from another team's practice squad a bust. i know it's just symantics, but he is prolly closer to "failed experamentsville" then bustsville. plus he is only in his second season as a starter, had a bad hammy all year last year, has a TRUE RUN BLOCKING FB this year, will have an OL that will hopefully gain some continuity by not changing positions every other week...etc, etc.... i think you have to really be patient with him this year. if he hasn't scored 3-4 TDs by game 8 then we will have a serious problem. he should realistically have 5 or more.

Why does it bother you so much? Bill Walsh constantly criticized Joe Montana. Holmgren constantly criticized Favre. It's how you get better. I find it interesting that pointing out a good players faults upsets you so...
