By PackerAaron
Charles Woodson and Nick Collins are going to the Pro Bowl.
Greg Jennings is not. Which is a joke...

Boldin probably should not have made it, other than that, the other wr all deserve to be there.
As much as I love Jennings, Calvin Johnson is arguably the bigger snub. He is the Lions' only weapon. The Lions' opponents have to know this. But week in and week out he puts up monster numbers. Reminds me of Sterling Sharpe in that respect.

I'm surprised Nick Collins made the Pro Bowl and Kampman didn't.

Is it a good thing that Jennings didn't make it since we need him to sign a contract extension soon?

Jennings,Harris and Kampman are alternates

fan voting for the pro bowl has got to end. it should be up to sportswriters, like the mvp award.

Jennings not making it was hardly a snub as DDD has pointed out. He plays on a losing team AND his stats put him in the 6-10 range for WRs in the NFC...which is about where he ended up.

Can't see choosing Jennings over either Boldin or Fitzgerald. Jennings was very good; they were better, integral parts of an offensive machine in Glendale.
Kampman? You must be freaking kidding me. Were you surprised Tony Moll didn't make it either?

Eli Manning? Name recogition. Rodgers has better numbers.

Bucky - I can completely see choosing Jennings over Boldin. But as DDD points out, the bigger slight may be to Johnson, who is indeed just about the only player Detroit has (though I still like their young back Smith)
As for the Kampman quip, I'm perplexed. Where did I say anything about Kampman?

Aaron,
Kampman was mentioned in the comments, not by you.
As for Jennings- again, I think he was excellent this year, but I don't think he was any better than Arizona's two receivers, or White, or Smith. I wouldn't have heartburn were he selected as a starter, but I also don't think leaving him off in favor of the others constitutes a snub. As it is, he's a first alternate, which is not too shabby. I can also see the Calvin Johnson thing; as you note, he was about all they had this season.
As it is, a 5-9 team has two Pro Bowl starters, which is pretty damn good.

Ooh, good point, DaveK, good point! Let him fly under the radar.

From Andrew Brandt blog today over at The National Football Post:
"The Pro Bowl becomes a large factor in contract negotiations. Players and the media often complain about the process and the flawed voting system, but being named to the Pro Bowl always becomes a point of negotiations for agents with clients who have made one or more Pro Bowls."
