Where were you when the Packers drafted Aaron Rodgers?
It's fun to think back sometimes...
By PackerAaron
When the Packers drafted Aaron Rodgers, I was sitting inside a rented house in South Carolina watching the NFL draft as my family spent the day on the beach. Yes, I stayed inside all weekend while they enjoyed the sun and sand. I regret nothing.
Here are some of my favorite responses from Twitter. Tell us where you were in the comments below.
In the atrium, listening to people complain about the pick

Having a draft party with my friends, playing madden and eating snacks... then quizzically staring at the screen wondering who the heck is Aaron Rodgers and why would we draft him when we have Favre?!

Sitting at the counter in my kitchen not paying attention to the draft at all until I realized the Packers had just drafted the cutest boy my 10 year old self had ever seen. Immediately printed off his college football headshot and taped it to my 5th grade assignment notebook

I was at a wedding. Him going to Green Bay was the most magical part of the day.

My home office at the time, now my son's bedroom, doing pick by pick updates for a now defunct website, via dial up modem.

Parking lot of Menard’s in Johnson Creek, listening on the radio before I went into the store.

Working hungover at Kwik Trip. My friends called the store to tell me who they drafted, and I told him to shut the F up.

I was watching the draft at home with my wife who was my girlfriend at the time. I remember her commenting how she felt sorry for Aaron because of the constant filming of him waiting in the Green Room. I remember when Green Bay was up I mentioned that it would be amazing if they picked Aaron with the constant chatter of Brett's retirement. My wife and I were both shocked when they announced the pick. It made so much sense from a value perspective, but we had a feeling that it wasn't going to be fully endorsed by Brett and I sense that it was not. Ballsy move by Ted however, I think it was a huge benefit that Brett waffled as much as he did on retirement as it allowed Aaron time to develop. I often think that Aaron may have sputtered and sank had he been drafted by the 49ers and was forced to play right away.

I remember being in my living room watching the draft, standing up, and applauding the pick.

In the gym. I came home and found out he was our selection, just as Mike Mayock had predicted. One of the posters at Packerchatters opined that I probably loved the pick, given that I’d complained so much about Favres inability to protect the ball in the clutch. And I do. He’s been a very good QB for us.

When they made the selection, I thought it sucked. We needed defense. Thought Favre's thumb had to be the reason, more then retirement. The rift between TT and Favre widened. Was TT right? No! He was LUCKY! The development of Rodgers pissed me off more. Many players windows closed. But the better Rodgers looked. The more " In Ted we Trust" was obvious. This became Rodger's neighborhood. Another MVP QB and another super-bowl is all it took. " Great Selection."

I was sitting at home on Long Island thinking how sorry it was that this kid was falling in the draft. It was painful to watch as he twisted and turned all by himself as seemingly everyone passed. I remember thinking “too bad we don’t need a QB”. Finally, the Green Bay Packers select...Aaron Rodgers, QB Cal. Like every pick I started to rationalize. “Well he can sit a few years behind Brett” or “They’ll draft defense in the next few rounds”. Greatness staring me in the face and no idea. LOL

Also watched the pick on TV at home. Didn't have a problem with it as Favre was starting to act like a Diva.

Definitely locked into the Draft and having a great time following Rodger's blog through the picks on JS online. Very good sense of humor and when I saw the viqueens blow the pick twice, I started to Feel the Power. Another great bit of luck for the Packers. There was no doubt, he was the best QB in that draft and the best player.

Sir Nagler, I apologize for making a less than stellar joke in response to this tweet. Please unblock me and let me redeem myself. The truth is that I don’t know where I was (I wasn’t with your mother), but I remember I thought it was a terrible pick because I know nothing.
Sincerest apologies,
