Video: Trent Dilfer Has Biting Words For Green Bay Packers

Former Super Bowl-winning quarterback Trent Dilfer provides the harsh reality that the Packers have not performed well in crunch time.

Listen to Dilfer's evidence (fourth quarter statistics) about 30 seconds into the video...

amen.

in my mind the Packers are...

talented
undisciplined
inconsistent
unorganized
"identity-less"
"anti-clutch"

sad season to be a Packer fan.
such high expectations.

i hate when people resort to what i'm about to say... but i'm going to say it anyway...

i hope the wheels completely fall off.
the super bowl ain't happenin' this year - it's just not.

might as well get as high a draft pick as possible.
oh yeah - and fire mccarthy.

this team needs a disciplinarian. someone to get all this talent going in the same direction. someone who holds individuals (coaches/players) accountable for poor performances. someone who not only can recognize weaknesses, but also KNOWS HOW TO FIX THEM.

i am convinced mccarthy is NOT the man who can do this.

I'd like a guy that, when he shouts at you, you have to wipe the sakiva off your face. And keep Kevin Green.

I know we're just griping here, and that in reality some other course will be followed, but after the last few games, we can dream, can't we?

A screamer is mighty fun as a fan and all... but do you think an 8 year vet is really going to respond to a "sparkplug" coach week in, week out.

You need to be level headed so that your calculated emotional displays are more effective.

How quickly has Singletary become a joke?

Capers head coaching resume' isn't anything to write home about...

And while I'm really not thrilled with some of McCarthy's tendencies (Primarily, I take issue with some of his play calling decisions), there's enough positives that McCarthy brings with him I'm not ready to say he needs to be fired.

His offensive scheme is brilliant, especially his ability to create and exploit mismatches with personnel- I just wish he called his games better. He's very progressive, always looking at the structure of his team and its practices, training, conditioning and even travel habits in amazing detail and thinking outside the box looking for ways to improve anything and every thing.

I dunno. I wouldn't string him up just yet. He's still a relatively young coach and I believe if he tweaks a few things in his approach he could be great.

I'm not convinced Gruden is that great of a coach. Maybe he'd do well here, but he destroyed Tampa Bay after their Tony Dungy built Super Bowl team. Doesn't give me a ton of confidence.

Now here's a solid Packer Fan .......

You may want to consider switching your team allegiance ..... Maybe the Vikings ..... No wait..... they're 1-3 .... How about the Cowboys ..... Jeez ... Again 1-3 ......

May as well pick up your soapbox & move to the next corner & rant your theories all over again ..... Emotional outbursts provide very few answers .....

Dilfer is my favorite NFL analyst once again he is correct. I feel like Aaron is simply not clutch dating back to his first starting season hes good at putting the team in a scoring position but I have yet to see him finish a drive..... also I hope Matt Flynn dosent start this Sunday because if he plays lights out we may have an issue.

I seem to recall last season's Dallas game where he led us on an >8 minute, >80 yard TD drive. If that's not "finishing" a drive, I dunno what is.

FWIW, IIRC, he had a 9 minute drive vs. Chicago. No, he didn't finish, but holding calls that take you out of TD position kinda play a factor as well.

"also I hope Matt Flynn dosent start this Sunday because if he plays lights out we may have an issue."

Congratulations, Alex! This is the single dumbest thing I have ever read on a Packer blog/forum. Yes, take perhaps the best arm in the NFL, the guy with the best long ball, the only quarterback in NFL HISTORY to go for 4,000+ his first two seasons as a starter, the guy we just paid big money to, the guy who took us to the playoffs last year...and yes, bench him for Matt fucking Flynn.

"you can't be a good football team and choke in the biggest moments of ball games". really? you can't??? thanks captain obvious!

he isn't saying anything that we here haven't been saying for the last few seasons.

yes, the injuries suck and are unprecedented in the nfl but you have to put the blame on mccarthy, slocum, the players that are dropping easily catchable balls and the players that are committing stupid penalties at crucial times during games. time to get your shit together boys!

The Packers, I believe, have what's considered a 'soft' training camp. How do you other's feel about this and what we have as a rash of early season injuries?

I've always liked T. Dilfer ...... Especially when he QB'ed the Bucs ...... Those road wins in Tampa Bay were always a nice relaxing blow-out for the Pack .....

Don't buy it ...... Not all games are won-lose in the 4th quarter ..... The 'disturbing trend' Dilfer refers too is just a small sample size that's just not big enough to draw solid conclusions .... It's too early in the season to bob your head up & down to every talking head on the tube.

Truth hearts, but to be in denial and arrogant only leads to more bad games.

Doing the same thing over and over again will only produce the same outcome, sometimes worse.

Trent under stood the game when he played, new what he could do and what he could not. MM and A-rod don't know their limits, thus they think they can do it all.

Watching the Jets Game, I witnessed players concentrate on a play, make that play and calmly walk back to the huddle. What I see with the Packers is a lot of jumping around, Dancing and celebrating as they're going back to the huddle. Maybe the Packers should be aware that this is a Job first and not a schoolyard game. Do your job, and celebrate after you win. Don't lose your concentration and get to happy until you've actually Won.

Alright, to the last point: I like my Packers having fun and enjoying the GAME that they're playing. I don't like when they're dropping easily catchable balls at crucial moments in the game. There were a lot of factors that played into the loss, enjoying themselves wasn't one of them. I think Finley being out royally screwed up McCarthy's game plan. Once you get used to having the best receiving TE in the game, it's tough to play without him. It was clear that once Matthews III left, our defense lost its teeth. The first 3 quarters we destroyed them, but injuries and lack of points caught up with us... Bad day, good teams turn it around and make the best of what they have. Don't forget, in 2 weeks, we'll be able to seriously bolster our roster with some fresh vets (Harris Bigby) and legs in the backfield (Starks).

They haven't hit their stride yet, but when they do ( I have a feeling this will coincide with Finley's return) watch out.

During training camp I made a $100 bet with a buddy of mine who still drinks the Favre-was-screwed-by-Thompson Kool Aid that the Packers will finished better than 9-7. He has them at worse than 9-7. 9-7 is a push. 5 weeks ago I thought that was money in the bank. Now, sadly, I'm not so sure after watching Dilfer rip us a new ass.

Disagree with Finley being out Kills the O. We still have 4 great WR & Quarless has shown promise.

The play calling, & lack of a legit run game are the issue.

Look, from a Defensive prespective, we are still solid. Simply, we have to score more than 13 points when the oppertunity is there. A dropped pass by 87, crappy goal line play calling / not going for the FG cost us 10 to 14 points and the game.

Whatever it is on the O side, someone in the Packers org better get it fix fast.

ps. How will Flynn do without a run game???

Dillys right on, I mentioned back in trianing camp, about drinking the Peter King Kool-aid.
Add the injuries, worse than I expected.
WILL not be a good pill to swallow if we get beat by the queens twice-heads might roll in the end! Gonna be a long season boys and girls.

Dilfer is full of shit. Packers are awful in the 4th quarter? No way. I don't buy that.

Packers are awful the entire second half.
