Video: Newest Packer Has Inspiring Story

Minnesota fullback Jon Hoese has a story that Packers fans will find inspiring.

Minnesota fullback Jon Hoese recently tweeted he'll be joining the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent.

Like most professional fullbacks, Hoese doesn't appear to be a prolific ball carrier, but he did score three touchdowns in Minnesota's season opener last season against Middle Tennessee State.

The game was notable for another reason. In the week preceding the game, Hoese's father had a stroke and slipped into a coma. After being by his father's side for most of the week, he played in Minnesota's first game and had a performance to remember.

Touching story.

You know, it's hard not to notice how players seem to rise up the most in times of emotional turmoil. We've seen it many places, most notably when Favre's father passed away. Not to get all cheesy, but I think there's something to be said for the human spirit and its ability to carry us through the hardest times.
