If the bears get Peppers and possibly Kampman, then it only makes it clear what TT must do this off season. The O-line must be the main (boring/unspectacular) focus this off season. A hurt/aging/dimensioning skills of Clifton is not the answer against Peppers/Allen 4 times a year. I see it as we have 2 options to address this, we either trade up in the draft to get one of the top 2 left tackles this year or get a restricted free agent that has a 1st and 3rd tender and pay him. I would bust the bank and draft to solidify that O-line, even if it means we can only address other needs with the 4th round and below. The other needs of the team does not over ride the crises that is our O-line. I will say it now, if Clifton is starting day one, OH **IT, my bar tab will not get any cheaper next year and A-rod better increase his life insurance.

I understand the Bears needs on D, but it's hard for me to believe those owners would be willing to pay the HUGE salaries both these guys would demand. Not impossible but not their usual M.O.

Retired - it's desperation time in Chicago. They got Cutler and no draft. They have huge holes at DE. Jerry Angelo and Lovie Smith are in full-on "win or lose your jobs" mode. If they could convince the McCaskey's they needed Cutler, they can do this...

Any thoughts on the Packers dipping their toes into the Dunta Robinson waters?

hyper - Robinson is going to get a ton of money. Doubt Thompson makes a play there. But hey, if you had told me he was going to give away three picks to move back into the first round to draft a USC LB in last years draft, I would have said you were crazy. So I guess anything can happen...

Well, Capers was HC in Houston when they drafted Robinson, and he coached him for 2 years. I don't know what kind of relationship they had, but Dom should know a ton about they guy, and how/if he would fit in his defense.
-------------
If the Packers keep Pickett on the franchise tag all year, they won't be paying him anything up-front, so they should have quite a bit of money to pay other guys up-front...like Collins, or perhaps a top-tier free agent. Knowing Theo T, it's not likely, but we fans gotta dream this time of year...

Good thoughts Aaron, if the Bears can get one of Kampman/Peppers then that will all but validate my thought that they are going to be contenders next year. I know it's really easy to diss them right now and talk about how bad of a QB Cutler is but I don't believe any of it, Cutler and co. are going to have a big time bounce back year next season. And that's not easy for me to say as a diehard Packer backer but I like to call a spade a spade and leave my bias out of football discussions.

Brett - I think their defense will be improved. But unless they solve the problems on their offensive line, and there's a report they might move Omiyale to RT, which is absurd, Martz is going to get Cutler killed. Which is fine by me...

I agree, no way Martz's Offense is going to work with the line that is currently in front of Cutler. That will be the key for them, and without a 1st Rd DP, it will be interesting to see how they attack solving that problem.

"Jerry Angelo and Lovie Smith are in 'win or lose your jobs' mode"

The way things are sounding here in Chitown, they've been in the win or loss their jobs mode for the last few years. Most NFL GMs and Coaches would not have lasted as long as they have in the current situation. You should here our "sports reporters" whine about them. Reading it from the point of view of a Pack fan, it's actually pretty funny.

Forget Westbrook, let's sign Chester. Dude's solid, great hands, nice compliment to Ryan.

So are the Bears giving up 2017 draft picks to get those guys? FINE BY ME!
