Rodgers & Jennings Are Just Having Fun Out There

Aaron Rodgers and Greg Jennings made a sandlot-like play for their first touchdown on Sunday.

I'm sorry, but I just love this.

If you have ever played football at any level, even a pickup game in the park, you have seen and/or done this.

On the play in question, Rodgers escapes from the pocket, rolls to his left and hits Jennings for the games first touchdown. What I love about the play is what a great job Rodgers does keeping his eyes downfield. He and Jennings see each other, Rodgers gives him a little point - and boom. Touchdown.

Just like you used to do at recess.

Great stuff.

As long as we don't hear the "Gunslinger" adjective, I'll be pleased with Rodgers' ad-lib ability.

I say he's a gunslinger in the way people say Dan Marino is a gunslinger...and I have no idea why Marino is considered a gunslinger.

It's awesome to know that Jennings and Rodgers are always on the same page. Their chemistry continues to grow and Jennings just knows where Rodgers will put the ball. McCarthy said in his press conference that he hasn't really changed anything to get Jennings more involved in the offense and maybe that's true. It could just be that Rodgers relies more on Jennings to make a play than any other receiver, especially with Driver being slowed down due to injury.

On another note: Did anyone see Jennings go up to Rodgers and put on the "Championship Belt" after he scored? Pretty cool!

McCarthy also says we're a "run-first" kinda team...

Great job as always Aaron. I'd love to see a film breakdown of BJax taking a draw or two for solid gains, or one of the many dump offs from Sunday in which he broke multiple tackles to get to the sticks. Seems like every caller on talk radio for two days keeps bringing this guy up in pointing out his downfalls and why the running game is still suspect. It's driving me mad. I thought Brandon continues to improve and he was pretty solid on Sunday. Overall, I wish people would realize the role running the ball plays in MMs offense this season and why Jackson is doing a pretty good job filling that role. Wow, way off topic here, my apologies.

BJ had 28 yards in 14 carries with a long of 6 yards ..... I doubt anyone envisions running the ball at 2 yards a carry as part of the plan ...... At the same time, BJ does look good on the dump-offs, always has ......

Hopefully D. Nance will show more & ultimately the "secret weapon" (Starks) will get his chance ......

Well, I've watched the game twice now and to me Brandon stood out. Having said that, now that I actually look at the box score, I'm taken back that his longest run was just 6 yards. I guess when you take the ball three yards behind the LOS on a draw, looks are deceiving. Jackson overall accounted for 66 yards ground and air. If they get a couple of nice carries also from Nance (and they did), and Rodgers gets his two long runs, I think that's all they really need. But also think the run blocking could improve. Brandon had to break three tackles just to get back to the LOS on several carries.

91 total yards on the ground. In the playoffs, they might want more like 110-120 or so, I realize this. But I think they can get it done.

The RB has to be able to take advantage of better OL blocking .... BJ still shows indecisiveness & a lack of burst ..... He's been running this way for near 4 years now ..... I doubt it changes.

I do agree that 100 or so yards a game may be enough ..... The real test will come against better comp such as Atlanta, NE, Giants & finally the Bears .....

" Running back Dimitri Nance could get significant playing time against his former team Sunday, when the 7-3 Packers play at the 8-2 Atlanta Falcons in a battle of NFC heavyweights.

Head coach Mike McCarthy said he plans to get Nance more involved in the offense after the undrafted rookie led Green Bay with 12 carries for 37 yards in its 31-3 win at the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. "

After a few games when A Rodg and the receivers were definately not on the same page it is great to see this. Also on daily links it says that Rodgers has 7 td's and no interceptions since going 4 and 4 (when the communication was struggling). Much prefer the last few games. The chemistry will become even more important as they head down the stretch. GO PACK.

Also -- Today they released the top vote-getters for the Pro Bowl. Rodgers is in the Top 5 and Clay Matthews and Charles Woodson are the two top vote-getters for their position.

However, I would like to see Sitton, BJ Raji, Tramon Williams, Clifton, and dare I say Jarret Bush get in as well.

Here's the list:

How do the vikings suck but still (as of now) manage to get 4 starters onto the NFC team?

One of the reasons why they got their mojo back and eventually got on the same page is the play of the offensive line. This particular play was a broken play but the offensive line did enough to give AR time and space to improvise. And while we're on the subject, is anybody else getting tired of Jason Wilde's harping on the Williams interception as the turning point of the game. It was an important play, but does anybody think that if they'd scored on that drive (he says they'd have scored 7, I say they wouldn't have gotten more than 3. Our defense wasn't going to be denied) all of a sudden Minnesota's O would've turned into a juggernaut? IMHO the offensive line settling down and allowing AR to make plays was the turning point and it was just a matter of time before they got there. As for Wilde's point, I think he's just embarrassed that he'd called us nuts for predicting a rout. So he wants us to believe that without Williams' play the outcome might have been different. I don't see that. They just were far too dominant! I like Jason, but sometimes he tends to find it hard to eat crow . . .

I dont know, I kind of think Wilde is right. I get what you're saying about the defense holding them to 3 anyway, as thats probably exactly what would have happened.

But I mean we can't know that, all we know is that the Vikings were moving the ball and building momentum and you never know where that leads. A score of any kind there and its a different ball game.

I also think that a less heralded play but an equally important one was the Charles Woodson strip and Aj Hawk recovery on the second or third Minny drive. I think that drive had more momentum than the one that ended with the Williams pick. That play was a 3rd and long I believe that looked to be a first down until Chuck swiped him. Both of those takeaways stopped promising Viking drives dead in their tracks.

Who knows what happens if neither of those takeaways occured. I dont want to find out either.

I think Wilde is right - but I also think Chris is right when he observes Wilde's inability to eat crow, at least publicly. ;)

Woodson's strip was a game changer...that sort of deflated them.

When Favre loses faith in his teammates it goes downhill...he started pressing and it changed the flow of their offense....then came the pick.

I personally will really start getting excited if the D can clamp down on the Falcons (Roddy White and Mike Turner) because at this point they have been beating up on lesser teams (offenses).

really lesser offenses. I get what you are saying but they stopped for teh most part Edwads and Holmes and LT at the Jets witch are pro-bowl type guys. Also Miles Austin & Dez Bryant Also bufflo's recivers better then they are given cridet for stoped DeSean Jackson and Vick. I know the Vikes suck but AP & Shiancoe and Harvin are good ball players. So with all that said I am really not to worried about White and Turner in this game. The D is healthy and locked in

Harvin stood and watched Woodson make that play. He didn't even try to block!

Another play that showed me that MN had packed it in was at either 10 or 17 to 3, MN's first play was a handoff. Kind of like Childress insisting that BF not try to be a hero. If a team calls plays to manipulate their own players; its time!!

Those two plays showed all I needed to see that day.

That said, I feel like that Harvin was one of the only players who showed up to play for that team. Except for Bryant McKinnie of course :)

It was a tie between this moment where Rodgers schoolyard flicks him to a spot, and the moment where Tramon Williams went all patriot missle on Greg Lewis that I replayed the most.

I almost ran out my remote batteries on that Tramon hit.

New nickname? Trauma Williams.

I heard (don't remember if it was Joe Buck or Troy Aikman) say it during the broadcast: "Rodgers is just having fun out there". How fitting. I couldn't stop laughing.

I love they they are having fun out there right now. I think that is what the O has needed, to just go out and play foot ball. The Belt celibration that Rodgers does has always been awesome to me so when he took it off and handed it to Jennings I about lost it. Anyone have video of the celibration?

I hope everyone gets a chance to read Lori Nickel's article on Ryan & Ryan...that is some fabulous shit. It is important to be exceptional on the field. Being exceptional OFF the field is just beautiful. We ar sooo fortunate to have players who not only field a great product for fans, but see the calling to give something back tot the community. I am awed by this display of integrity & spirituality. I can't see many of the Purple Hags doing that.
Seriously, I often forget how really, really good we have it.
