Don’t let the door hit you on the way out of town. Time for Gutey to pick up the phone. Vegas may need a receiver to replace Adams. Doubs can catch tons of passes on a losing team. Bye bye

This guy was looking like a future all pro in camp. The Packers proceed to give majority of the targets to the dude with the worst hands in the NFL. They need to start using Doubs much more.

There is essentially parity at this point. So close as to
Be meaningless. Doubs does do a lot more the unglamorous stuff, not just run routes.

Well that’s surprising. Hopefully this gets resolved before it becomes even more of a distraction. If he missed a couple of practices for hissy fit reasons, I would assume he’s out for Sunday?
I didn’t expect this but it happens when a team has some successes and everyone thinks they are the reason. I’m still not happy about Love not practicing in the preseason even though he was under contract.
Doubs put himself at a crossroads in week 5. His agent should be telling him to get his act together quickly.

Suspend him or trade him. WR is the deepest position on the team, a word that lacks the letter I. We do not need more of the Alexander “captain” type antics of last year. Vegas, Jacksonville, Patriots would all be lovely spots for him

Did you ever stop to think about the implications of this story? It makes no sense whatsoever as told. Doubs is a quiet and hitherto hard working guy on a first contract who has never had a reputation as a malcontent. He has no leverage at all. He’s a first contract receiver that the team can suspend indefinitely and not hurt for cap wise. He’s good, but he’s not a league star. He’s not Randy Moss or Antonio Brown. Teams avoid or downgrade players who do this kind of thing unless they are stellar talents.

Let’s say it’s true, that Doubs who has played the most snaps, has near the most targets, is so upset by one game plan he spontaneously withdraws his own labor? Come off it, that might be the last straw of long unaddressed dissatisfaction but a one game strategy? Thats implausible in any rational context.

If the one game thing really triggers this, then we should be concerned for Doubs’ health. It’s that irrational. If it’s not that, but more deep seated then buckle up, because Doubs is likely not alone in an O that seems pretty tight knit and the problem is much deeper rooted and long term.

This article might have been better withheld until the facts and context could be corroborated and Doubs mental health considered. We get nothing from knowing this that is helpful without some context, if it’s even true or a fair representation, and yet so many are willing to leap to conclusions. Doubs might be committing career suicide for little to no reason or something more fundamental may be wrong with him, LaFleur’s leadership or Huber’s sources.

Good point about the agent and how he is advising his client poorly.

It's a very unproductive tactic for Doubs to walk out in mid-season. For both sides. Bad timing with the Watson injury right now.

I read where teams are not willing to offer a second round pick for Davante Adams, so a trade of Doubs might not get much in return as far as draft picks.

Maybe GB can get an established or talented young defensive player in return in a trade scenario.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out. At least, this is an area where GB has good depth positionally.

You always have to ask the question: who has this guy's ear? Right now, it's a dead heat for the lead in targets on the team for Doubs, Reed, and Wicks. They're all between 20-22 targets, which isn't a meaningful difference four games in. He needs to let things play out based on Watson's absence--while Watson was low on the target ladder, this will shift progressions and game plans.

I think you hit on the key point: there's never been more receiver talent in the league, and more creativity in scheming it, than there is now. There won't be any return for him if he demands a move. So, essentially, he's swinging a wiffle ball bat here.

The only folks who 'need to let things play out' are the fans indulging in an aneurysm-- oh hey, sorry --indulging in a tantrum just because the most humble, well-grounded, non-diva player on the squad knows where he stands. Note Doubs HAS NOT RAISED A PUBLIC STINK like some sort of Randy Moss or Keyshawn or Terrell Owens prima donna parade. Doubs hasn't acted the diva publicly at all not in any way. The fans though, they're eager to play the diva role, 'O my feelz, my season of watching, shattered expectations! O!' Like ya'll are 13yo.

"the most humble, well-grounded, non-diva player on the squad"

You simply do not have this information.

About any of them.

Doubs has run the most routes, which includes getting the most snaps.

It's pretty obvious more is involved than what's being reported.

The simple fix is to find a trade partner. Coach Lombardi traded Jimmy Ringo when he showed up in his office to renegotiate his contract. The trade was made right there and then. Very disappointed in Doubs. The team comes first. The solution in this matter is a trade.

Based purely on how uncomfortable Doubs' often seems interacting with the press, and on my own personal experiences, I wonder if Doubs doesn't struggle with depression and it's a down turn in his mood that is manifesting in this behavior.

Depression is not the only possibility but yes, it seems possible that this is related to what kept him in his hotel room throughout the combine.

If you have heard Doubs during Q&A's, he is intelligent, well spoken, thoughtful, and knowledgeable about football. By all reports he was a model teammate in Nevada and Green Bay. He is a tireless worker, especially in the offseason where he spends time practicing with Love and other Packers.

In a crowded, talented Packer WR room where just a few years ago, everyone was "The Guy" on their teams, it can be as simple as a young man is not feeling rewarded for his work and production during game planning. Who knows? I do not.

Egos in the NFL correspond to the size of the athletes. And communication, or lack of it is usually a root cause within the problem. Romeo is only a 24 year old kid. His "self evaluation" may not match what the game plan is forecasting. This is not an unusual event.

I am sure Love has been talking to his friend.

Doubs is a humble, down-to-earth guy who knows what he earned and doesn't raise a stink.
He's no prima donna Terrell Owens or Micheal Irvin. He's been effective as hell so there's little reason to bench the guy.

This is an unusual situation. Disgruntled players usually do this behavior in training camp, not in the middle of the season. Not sure of the ramifications, fines, missed paychecks, suspensions?

You would think he would have voiced his concerns before resorting to this drastic measure. Wonder what's really going on?

Not a positive situation for anyone involved.

Not good. As the great Vic Ketchman used to write, "players are independent contractors." These Dudes want to maximize their earnings during what are usually short careers. We have been spoon fed the nonsense that the Pack has 6 quality receivers who accept that there is no #1. Mr Doubs's behaviour seems to be inexcusable, but sadly it comes as no surprise. Wicks got 13 targets last game. He caught 5. He had a bad drop in the redzone that led to the first missed FG. Jayden Reed and Romeo Doubs got 16 between them. Doubs caught 4 out of 5. Maybe he's got a point, he just didn't express it the right way. We'll see what happens when he returns. Based on targets so far this season, Reed and Wicks are the top two WRs.

Doubs was targeted 8 times, not 5.

So, Doubs had an uncharacteristically poor outing, too, as far as drops are concerned.

Doubs may be discouraged because he's also an exceptional downfield blocker at WR, and based on the success of Reed out of the backfield, there may have been a desire to incorporate more of that dynamic going forward.

Who knows? At the end of the day, his dissatisfaction and how he is handling it isn't productive or healthy. My hope is that Doubs and MLF had a heart to heart and got things back on the rails and we move forward better for it.

The discrepancy is probably the result of rum. I think we also might be looking at whether the targets were "catchable" or just attributed to him because he was the nearest receiver. And I'm not talking about drop rate.

Reed and Doubs got 16 combined targets, and Wicks got 13, caught 5, and dropped at least one big one. Now, this week, Wicks is like 2 for 7 for 20 yards. Doubs has got to be wondering WTF? A Day 3 pick, he had a great rookie debut, has stayed healthy and continued to improve, and yet it doesn't seem to be enough. I get why he's frustrated.

Doubs had at least 3 stone cold drops out of his 4 incompletions last week - including the one that was tipped by Kraft, and ended up hitting Doubs directly in his two hands, which he then also tipped up, and was intercepted.

Wicks has been atrocious with the drops this year, and he dropped more than 4 "big ones" last week. With that being said, Doubs has had the yips this season as well.

He's probably frustrated because the first game was sluggish out of the shoot, then with Willis under center, the Packers wisely ran the ball first and the pass was mostly limited to short screens to Reed- who has been phenomenal- and the rest of the WRs have been asked to block. That bled over into last week's game as well.

As to understanding his frustration, I get it. But Doubs went out of his way during the offseason to preach to the media about how this team's WR corps is unselfish, they all understand they're going to be asked to block, and they all put the team above the individual- stating we know one game may feature one player, the next might be someone else, but it'll be your week eventually and they're all about supporting everyone in the room. Well, I guess that was all lip service.

I like Doubs, coming into this season he looked set to have a monster year, but this isn't a great sign of his ability to handle adversity. He's young, he'll hopefully learn from it, and mature. But make no mistakes about it, Reed looks like an absolute demon, and while Wicks has failed to haul in the ball on far too many targets in 2024 thus far, he's got some elite traits and a lot of tools in the belt.. He can definitely be a factor going forward. Talent level between Wicks and Doubs is not dissimilar. Different skill sets, but both have high ceilings.
