That’s super interesting. Isn’t a lack of production a red flag?

I’m at a point in researching this draft where I build mocks myself. Listing slots. Filling slots.

Assuming we get NYJ picks added to our own is fun and all, but an assumption…

Then it hits me… 5 picks in the Top 45???

Been doing it this way for about 40 years. Never had this scenario. Holy balls.

Can’t get married to all those beautiful 13, 15, 42, 43, 45 picks, because speculation. Because trades further. Etc. Etc. Etc.

Despite that, every damn pick is important AF. Treat them like they are your kids.

There’s no room for Justin Harrells, nor Derek Sherrods… No Datones… No Spriggs!!!! No Carrolls!!!

Production. Give me the guys who know how to play, have the size, speed, instincts that project to NFL, and a resume of production. No injury histories. No taking dumps in girls dorm room laundry hampers…

Gotta have some numbers. Show me the sacks. The TFL. The FF/FRs. PDs (hustle plays).

Lack of production is as big a red flag to me as foot injury history, x 2.

Start dropping the names in with a sense of permanence. It’s not like you can start pounding the simulator again in an hour or two… or, tomorrow…

There’s no turning back. No do overs.

Still want Murphy as one of those R1s? Now, gotta have a starting LT…

Can I find similar or better numbers against Power 5 opponents in R2? R 4?

Would that pick be better spent on a Top WR? A dynamic Safety? How many swings are there at 5 R1 graded TEs? Will any be left to take at 42???

Poof! Gone! Snooze, you lose!

Remember teams in front of the Packers gobbling up all the Top WRs before our selection?

That’s a game changer, right?

I’m looking at these 5 picks like pieces of gold. Don’t want to throw them away. Hoping instead they are one day celebrated for helping us win another Lombardi Trophy, the ultimate prize & reward.

Five of them up there! Zero room for error.

GG,
Couple corrections or comments.

5 picks in the top 44 in reality. Setting pretty if we can get them.

Forgot about the dumping in the dormitory. God, being in college was fun! Some of the shit we pulled was amazing! Pun intended!

I said Murphy because I was taking a shot of who your secret defensive player was. When you elaborate about production remember Gary coming out of college? I like another Edge with the same build as Gary like Murphy, Keion White, Adetomiwa Adebawore....who by the way killed it at the Combine. Yes, I love the athletisim of guys like Nolan Smith & Will McDonald with quick first steps. The problem is the Packers have trouble stopping the run and these guys are light in the shorts setting the edge.

The hold up is that trading Aaron Rodgers, NFL MVP 2 of the last 3 years, made no sense for the Packers to begin with, setting aside the ABSURD compensation the 31 colluding Billionaire Owners are talking about to obtain Rodgers and thereby maximize television revenues from the underperforming New York NFL Television market - the largest television market in the world.

While Green Bay - with Rodgers as the main reason - has been in the the playoffs more years - 11 - since Rodgers became starter in 2008, than any other NFC team, the Giants have only been in the playoffs 4 years and the Jets 2.

Television revenues are shared equally by all 31 Billionaire NFL Owners and the Packers and that underperforming New York NFL television market asset has to be turned around. All the NFL owners want that and they have given their scripted NFL announcers and sports writer talking heads the order to make the trade as cheap as possible for the Jets to make the New York NFL Television market relevant again.

Packers with a healthy Rodgers in 2023-24 would be back in the playoffs again. The young receivers from last year are good and will get better. 1st and 2nd round Packer picks should bring a good tight end and receiver. The defense is solid. The special teams improved.

There was plenty of evidence in 2008 and earlier that Rodgers was ready from both this big game college performances against nationally ranked opponents like #1 ranked USC and Pete Carroll and from Rodgers November Thursday night 2007 performance in Dallas against the Cowboys. Same was true with Favre coming out of college in games against Alabama and others.

There is very little evidence that Jordan Love has that ability based on the few snaps we have seen. The most sustained action he has had when the opposing defense had a week to game plan for him was his start at Kansas City in which Jordan had 63 snaps and the Packers scored 7 points and Jordan's passer rating was 69.5. Then Jordan had 37 snaps and a 64 passer rating in the meaningless last game of the 2021-22 game against Detroit and the Lions then hapless defense.

The best we have seen from Jordan is the 10 snaps against the Eagles when the Eagles were laying back in prevent defense and giving Jordan and the Packers the short stuff, that Christian Watson turned into a touchdown - all yards after the catch.

Jordan's college career career at Utah State- including blow out 42 to 6 loss to Joe Burrow and LSU when Jordan threw 3 picks and Joe Burrow 5 TDs, loss to Josh Allen and Wyoming when Jordan threw 3 picks, loss to 22nd ranked Boise State and Brett Rypien (Super Bowl QB Mark Rypien's nephew) when Jordan was outplayed, loss to 11th ranked Michigan State when Jordan threw 2 picks and was out played by future Giants and Patriots undrafted Brian Lewerke or his last game in the Frisco Bowl with the pick and loss to Kent State and Dustin Crum - undrafted signed by the Chiefs and now in the CFL.

Jordan looks better than his first exhibition games - all of which I have watched - and he certainly is better than the disaster of Brett Hundley, 5th round 2015 Packer draft choice, that kept us out of the playoffs when Aaron went down in 2017.

But there is no reason to replace Aaron Rodgers with Jordan Love at this point, never mind trading Rodgers.

In fact, last year the Giants come May 2022 did not exercise their 5th year on option on Daniel Jones, the 6th overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft, even though Jones had started 37 games for the Giants.

The Giants were that uncertain.

And the Packers are so sure about Jordan Love?

Based on what? 1 failing start?

Even though the NFL since the 1994 salary cap has been in an age of parity there are still several examples of teams that rarely reach the playoffs.

I have been a die hard Packer Fan since Bart Starr in the late 1960s and I watch all the games from 1968 through 1991 when we reached the playoffs only 2 years - 1972 and strike shortened 1982.

Many Packer fans younger than 40 have no idea of reality and have been spoiled by the QB stability the Packers have had and EVEN REACHING THE PLAYOFFS. They don't appreciate it.

Despite Packers never having drafted a receiver, tight end or running back in the first round in Aaron Rodgers 18 years as a Packer;

And despite the Packers only having spent 2 first round draft picks (Sherrod & Bulaga) on the offensive line in Aaron Rodgers 18 years as a Packer;

And despite the Packers having used their first draft picks on defense in 14 of the 17 years since Aaron Rodger was drafted in 2002 and despite the Packers STILL never having a top ranked defense and a top 10 ranked defense only 3 times in Aaron Rodgers 15 years as a starter;

In Aaron Rodgers 15 years as the Packers' starting QB the Packers played in 21 post season games, more than any of the other 15 NFC teams during that 15 year time span, all of those teams rotating through multiple QBs during those 15 years.

During those 15 years with Rodgers as the starter the Packers also played in 5 NFC Championship games, more than any other NFC team's QB during that 15 years.

Aaron last year played with broken thumb from the Giants game onwards and a rotating offensive line and rotating and injured new wide receivers had 41 drops - including 5 drops in the pivotal last playoff determining Lion game - relative to 15 drops in 2021 when Davante Adams led the team in drops with only 3 in 169 targets! Add 26 completions (41 minus 15) and Rodgers - even with the broken thumb and rotating offensive line - is at the top of the QB stats and the Packers are in the playoffs.

Rodgers will like Brady play at a high level through age 45 and whatever team he is on will be in the playoffs and a threat to win the Super Bowl. For the selfish and unrealistic that is not good enough. As far as the Tom Brady comparisons, from the time that Aaron Rodgers became a starter in 2008, Tom Brady had the higher ranked defense supporting him 14 of the 15 years - all but 3 of those years Brady had a top 10 ranked defense behind him, Aaron has a top 10 ranked defense only 3 of the 15 years

The team without Rodgers - be it the Jets or Packers - they will have no assurances of getting near the playoffs - they will be searching and hoping.

The 31 Billionaire NFL Owners wage slave/talking heads' scripted sports writers/announcers' trade offers are ridiculous. Start with Russell Wilson type trade compensation and go up from there:

If you cancel the Seattle 4th round pick against the Denver 5th round pick, Russell Wilson was traded for 7 players - the 9th (2022), 5th (2023), 40th (2022), 37th (2023) picks in the NFL Draft - all unconditional draft picks - and a young solid starting tight end (Noah Fant, the 20th pick in the 2019 draft) and a starting defensive end (Shelby Harris) and quarterback Drew Lock (2nd round 42nd overall pick in the 2019 draft - 6 players who will be Seattle starters and 2 of which (5th and 9th pick) will probably be all pros and a backup or possible starting QB - for Russell Wilson.

And the 31 billionaire NFL owners' Sports illustrated wage slave/talking heads said the Jets would give us what?

Lots of effort in this post, unless you just memorized all these stats lol. Great info in this article. I would agree that the level of pay for the NFL vs what the cap space is for each team is questionable at best. We hear time and time again that the staff for each of these teams is vastly underpaid when it comes to the weight room, or medical personnel, etc. But the way gaming has been set up over the last century (since the beginning really) is one piece is worth more than another mentality. In no way is it right, but remember money is just energy - it's how you use it that determines a big portion of your legacy - or how you use your time. Let the billionaires believe they are providing such a great service of sport that they deserve to stuff their coffers. There will always be the rich and the oppressed as long as collectively people keep putting one piece of a body on a higher pedestal than another. Sometimes it's warranted, sometimes it's not, that will never change as the world is fallible.

We feed energy into this sport being spectators, so all you can control is what you put into it. I myself will enjoy what I can out of it - have taken a break every time I see a refs call that seems to be more rigged than accidental - and because GB is publicly owned; well if I cared enough, I'd look more into how refs are vetted. But in the end it's entertainment. What I value the most is how GB is that publicly owned team, and quite frankly that probably won't last and I don't see the NFL walking the line of fair going forward. Case and point, look at how the halftime show morals have changed over the years. A superbowl in GB may be a miracle if any amount of energy within the sport is spent to work against the Packers winning a superbowl. But with that, it's because the culture at Lambeau is something to be proud of. It shows that the people behind this team have supported it in a way that no other team can lay claim to. Enjoy the game for what it is. Celebrate the players for who they are as a team and as individuals. A win is a win, and the superbowl isn't everything.

Lastly - Rodgers will remain my QB1 until I see otherwise. But, even I can see Rodgers is getting exhausted with the sport, and probably for many of the reasons you pointed out. I don't see Rodgers playing until 45, because I don't think he loves the game as much as Brady did. Brady had something privately, fueling him privately, even though the sport tries to make everything public. When Brady went to TB, you saw him drilling his receivers and picking them up verbally. With Rodgers, I've seen a "super senior" shootn' the shit with everyone he knows in the building. But, again, beyond the film they show us on different mediums, that's the difference I saw anyway. And now that I know Jordan Love's backstory a little more from a piece aired last week, I'm rooting for him to take the stage now. He deserves a shot. Doesn't mean we don't generate a back up plan in the case that he's not the guy. But we need someone who matches the culture of all the energy that's put into making GB the one place that doesn't need the "overlord" owner to get things done. It's time for GB to be known for the passion of the sport again. For however long that window will stay open within the NFL dogmas moving forward.

Thank you for posting the facts of life when you are dealing with multi billion dollar owners. One thing I would like to add.
This past year Packer fans had to tolerate a defensive coordinator who had no business being a coordinator. Yes the defense improved as the season went on. But at no time did this club appear to be a top 1 2 3 4 5 defensive team. With so many first round picks we all expected much more. I ask can all the players be that bad or was the scheme hatched by a wanabe defensive coordinator just plain slop. We will find out this year. As for J. LOVE, even A. RODGERS struggled his first year starting. I dont ecpect J. LOVE to carry this team as A. RODGERS did for 15 years. Frankly if LOVE falters Gutekunst is fired. LaFleur will get the axe for keeping Barry on the staff. And Murphy will hold up his hands and say, "Not my job man. I'm retiring."

Murphy will be known for one thing. That is the down town development of Green Bay. And he should send a special thank you to A. RODGERS for providing a team worthy of that development.

Im so disgusted with this front office i'm thinking about buying a pair of pantyhose to wear to cold games.

You assume that Rodgers is the next Brady and not the next every other QB in the history of the NFL - someone who will play at a high level well into their 40's. Brady is the statistical outlier of all time and not the high probability path for Rodgers.

Rodgers did not play well last despite your best efforts to excuse his play. He didn't play well before he broke his thumb and played poorly after it healed. And he probably shouldn't have been playing while it was broken but he selfishly insisted he could play. Rodgers exhibited poor leadership by choosing not to work out with the rookies at OTAs to bring them along more quickly. He will be 40 next year and was seriously considering retirement this offseason. Yet you blithely assume he will return to HOF form in 2023.

I appreciate your green and gold glasses, but you are living in the past with Rodgers. It is time to move forward with Love or whoever is the next great Packer QB. And I am not some kid who has only ever seen the Favre/Rodgers era - I go back to the beginning of the Lombardi era.

Yes, LP, I do. I remember that our offense failed, over and over again, and then when our Long Snapper gave up a pressure, it made a difference in the game. I think it's pretty shitty when you've got guys like Rodgers and Adams and Jones and you can only get 10 points.....and then blame the lost on the long snapper.

The Packers have played over 60 playoff games in their proud history. They scored 10 or fewer points 4 times, all losses.

The Absolute Truth. Your Summation puts the Prosecution in a pickle, even with a Rigged Court. The Evidence File does not LIE. The Censorship in the Press Room for these sports corporations is concerning. Essentially, there is NO sports journalism, just Opinion pieces and amateur hour from the analytics crowd. If any of the Old School sports writer's opined in today's NFL media rooms they would be escorted out the door by armed guards--SAD. I attended my first Game @ Lambeau with Uncle Ike and Sherm Harris,WWII vets, in 1960. The old farts shared the bags of peanuts and Sandwichs which were ALLOWED into the stadium and nobody gave us a shake down or frisked for flasks. The old farts all were smoking cigars or Camel straights and passed the Glass, Brandy bottle over for a nip in cold weather. The Old man graduated High School in1929 and attended all the games @ City Stadium through the War years and watched all the Hall of Famers win the first series of Championships. He [partied with Johnny Blood McNally as did most of N.E. Wisconsin when he made his rounds. When we attended summer practices, we watched our Heroes behind a 1'-0 round hemp rope and listened to Vince swear at his Guys. Fans could scream crap out or heckle and he laughed it off. Different Times, different Culture.

The more I read some of this, the more I wish we had got this over a year ago. That would have dramatically improved our cap and given us picks in a Covid strengthened draft. Last year was a season Rodgers would been better spending with a strong roster around him. It’s pretty clear that some can’t let go or see that Rodgers and a team forced to get younger is ridiculous for both sides.

It would have been better for all to have traded last year. If Rodgers had carried Denver to a Super Bowl, I would have cheered him knowing that there was no chance if that here and said so. This year, if he does go to the jets I still wish him well, but a little more jadedly perhaps.

I have to say that long cherry picked peons of ifs and buts coupled with a total refusal to use the evidence we all saw if we watched—some were seeing it in 2021, though not I at the time—and an absolute inability to face up to the inevitability of decline. Yes, even Brady played too long and his last victory was a hell of a roster and his mind carried him more than true physical QB prowess. Brady never had movement as part of his game and, much though it pains, is the only QB who won critical games in numbers with his mental acuity primarily when it counted since Starr.

No, trading Rodgers this year makes no sense. But only because it’s a year, tens of millions of cap burden and one pointless season late. Rodgers needed that year more than we do. He’s got very few left, even if he wants them, and he’s more Favre than Brady in that respect. Favre managed a season and a half from this age. Favre was nothing if not tough and had motivation galore.

This was kind of an interesting insight into the mind of Coldworld.

""No, trading Rodgers this year makes no sense. But only because it’s a year, tens of millions of cap burden and one pointless season late. Rodgers needed that year more than we do."

Me, being a "win-win" guy.....I don't really care who needed that year more. You and I both wanted the trade last year, but it's quite obvious to me that the Front Office was unconvinced that we'd have a better shot with Love and the Picks (sounds like a Motown band) , than Rodgers.

They also reasoned that if Love developed the way they hoped, he'd be better in a year, and that the team could still trade Rodgers, although for less than the maximum they could have received.

So that's what happened. It wasn't because the FO was incompetent or stupid; they made a calculated decision. It didn't work last year, for a variety of reasons we've all discussed, but it could have worked out better. It didn't.

Now, we're right back where we were a year ago, except that Love is better and Rodgers is worse. Watson and Doubs won't be rookies anymore. The line looks like it could be in better shape going into training camp.

With the benefit of 20/20 hindsight, of course I have to agree with you when you say this

"It would have been better for all to have traded last year."

Then, yeah....I completely agree. But given all the available information , the FO made a calculated decision to go with Rodgers for ONE MORE YEAR. I don't think that keeping the MVP on your team is incompetence or malfeasance. It was a choice that didn't work out the way we hoped, kind of like when I asked Kathy to the high school prom. But that's another story.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

As I've mentioned to you before, the thing that has never made sense to me is the contract. Why? We didn't have to do that.

But if we hadn't, and Rodgers was a FA right now, we wouldn't be looking at any compensation. We'd also have quite a bit more money at our disposal....I'm not sure how much.

I've been suspecting for quite a while that the contract is not as nonsensical as it appears. That's why I'm kind of waiting for all the smoke to clear and we find out exactly what it cost before I'm willing to conclude that it's a mistake.

This season will, inevitably, shed light on a lot. Be warned, there is no guarantee that it will be pretty.

Of course I’d be happy if Rodgers won elsewhere. He’s not winning it with us and we aren’t winning it this year. I was a very early supporter of Rodgers despite loving watching Favre’s style of pkay, but nothing lasts for ever. I don’t necessarily like everything either does, says or gives credence to, but I have definitely enjoyed their careers.

I’m also honest enough to know that the last years are often difficult whether an athlete stays or goes. There’s no more debate about who is the better of Favre and Rodgers, it’s who was. Soon that will be true if Rodgers versus anyone. Let him have a last best shot with a strong roster.

In this case, the path was run and ended. I think now we will see will learn truths to some extent, but the reality is that the cap and time has ru. Out for anything other than futility. I find it interesting that this seems to be a widely prevailing opinion too. As with Favre, no joy but necessity.

Here's a crazy thought. What if the FO knew Rodgers was going to retire. He said on Pat that he was 90/10. Maybe enough people sensed that, and Rodgers sensed they wanted to move on and now all we are watching is a divorce. Well if you're leaving, then I'm shopping you for draft picks! Well if you're shopping me, then I'm coming back for the Jets where people actually appreciate me!

This is a team sport with many personalities. We don't know everything that happens behind closed doors.

Maybe this whole time they wanted Rodgers to stay, hence the crazy contract. But also with a contract like that plus Adams taking up a combine 1/3 of the cap space, you tend to run 1/3 plays around Rodgers/Adams. When people say you can't rely on Rodgers in key games, I say you can be so predictable and throw it to Adams in traffic in every crucial playoff scenario. Poor decisions - I just want to see both parties benefit here because this has been rough to watch for many reasons.

He’s not even Favre when it comes to longevity or durability. Favre went to the NFC Championship in his last Packer season. Rodgers lost to the Lions twice, in miserable fashion and didn’t even qualify. Favre was back there again with the Vikings at age 40. We’ll see what happens with Rodgers, but i think there’s a greater chance of Love making the conference championship than Rodgers doing it with an another team. He is not a good quarterback anymore.

Packer fan since the Vince days. I appreciate all the passionate responses in this post. I won't pretend to be an armchair GM, so I have to have a level of trust in what they do. However, what my eyes tell me that as Dylan once crooned, " times are a changing". I am going to embrace it knowing that maybe dark times are ahead, but I think we will be more competitive than everyone thinks. Rodgers is, or course, one of my fav players. But he had opportunities despite other circumstances not in his control, to come up big in big games the last 3 years and he has not. Rodgers is the one who demanded to be paid so much that we couldn't afford to surround him with the talent he wanted. I see Jones and Cobb taking cuts, well, maybe Aaron shouldn't have demanded as much.
I read about the Brady comparisons. The major difference to me is Brady took what the defense gave him and just moved the chains, Rodgers went big all the time. Sorry, but 12 was healthy in the 49er playoff loss, Yep, the ST's had a major role, but Rodgers had the ball to take the ball down and score at least of FG, which I think Brady would have done. Rodgers looked old and cold. Father time is undefeated, time to change. I will root for 12 in New York, of course I will root for Green Bay a lot harder. GPG!

31 NFL Billionaire Owners propaganda:

Yardbarker: NFL exec: Jets have 'sold their soul" for Packers Aaron Rodgers

CBS Sports: Aaron Rodgers trade standoff. Why Jets have leverage over the Packers, according to former NFL team president

Sports Illustrated: One Exec's Compromise Packers-Jets Trade Package - With trade talks involving Aaron Rodgers apparently going nowhere fast, this proposal could satisfy with the Packers and the Jets.

Pro Football Talk: In Dealing with the Packers, it's time for the Jets to act like New Yorkers

Fan Sided: 4 free agents Packers missed out on thanks to Aaron Rodgers

The 31 NFL Billionaires owned and scripted NFL media sports writing and sports announcing talking heads are out in full force trying to pacify, tranquillize, exploit and confuse Packer fans so they give away more players in their athletic prime - Lazard and Tonyan - and are robbed of the longest tenured player in the Packers long history and arguably the greatest player in their long history. NFL Hall of Fame and current best wide receiver in the NFL in his athletic prime was not enough.

An attempt at mass hypnosis.

Packers, a young team, just a year ago were coming off 13-3, 13-3, and 13-4 seasons - best record in the NFL over that time periods and now the 31 NFL Billionaire Owners' scripting wage slave talking heads are pushing the idea that the Packers need to "rebuild" and give away their 2 out of the last 3 years' MVP quarterback?

And this salary cap which is obsessively focused on by the 31 NFL Billionaires owned and scripted NFL media sports writing and sports announcing talking heads, what is this salary cap other than 31 Billionaire Owners parasitic way to suck more money/profit out of the athletic talents of these athletes that risk death and crippling and brain damaging injury each week on the field.

Great that no one team can pay more to its players than any other team in order to create equality among the teams, but we pay to watch the athletic talents of the players not the parasitic ability of Billionaire owners - the salary cap should be raised evenly for all teams to recognize the true value here and to eliminate the parasitic hoarding of the necessities of life and profit taking by these 31 NFL Corporate Plantation owners. We certainly do not watch these games for the physical talents and skills of the money counting and calculating Jerry Jones or Woody Johnson, etc. etc..

Sad that this 31 Billionaire Owner profit making 1) salary cap imposition on the players of its 31 NFL plantations and these 31 Billionaires' 2) concern with the underperformance of the New York NFL Television market underperformance due to the Jets and Giants respective 2 and 4 year playoff appearance the last 15 years - notice that strangely not one other NFL team appears interested in the most winning NFC QB of the last 15 years who is just a year removed from 2 consecutive NFL MVPs - have caused Packer Management such fear that they try to squeeze their Packer drafted and home grown NFL Hall of Fame bound best receiver in the NFL so hard that he is alienated and takes a lower salary offer from the Las Vegas Raiders and squeeze another Packer drafted and young and solid and improving receiver, Marquez Valdez Scantling such that he leaves the Packers for the Chiefs and then saves the Chiefs season in the NFC Championship game against the Bengals.

And now the Packers are to give away the MVP 2 out of the last 3 years for basically nothing while the Lions and Seahawks walk away with multiple 1st and 2nd round draft choices and starters and the Bears in exchange for the first pick in the draft - which no one knows will turn out to be Ryan Leaf or Peyton Manning - receiver 2 first round draft choices, 2 second round draft choices and a star wide receiver.

The Packers suffered a five game falloff last year after the best record in the NFL the past 3 years not because the team is aged or any falloff in the then reigning MVP, but because the Packers last year lost the league's best receiver, Hall of Fame bound Davante Adams and Marquez Valdez Scantling an all around solid receiver and one of the games' best deep threats who saved the Chiefs season with his performance against the Bengals in the AFC championship game and because Aaron Rodgers was forced to deal with this loss and a broken thumb for most of he year and because the Packers last year played with an injured and rotating offense live and injured and rotating largely rookie receiver group and lost their best pass rusher Rashan Gary and lost starting cornerback Eric Stokes and lost their best defensive player and tackler linebacker and captain Devondre Campbell for multiple games at a critical juncture and linebacker Quay Walker due to rookie immaturity and psychological issues.

And the 31 NFL Billionaires owned and scripted NFL media sports writing and sports announcing talking heads are out in full force trying to pacify, tranquillize, exploit and confuse Packer fans so they give away more players in their athletic prime - Lazard and Tonyan - and are robbed of the longest tenured player in the Packers long history and arguably the greatest player in their long history. NFL Hall of Fame and current best wide receiver in the NFL in his athletic prime was not enough.

An attempt at mass hypnosis.

Hopefully Packer fans are smart enough to see through it and as with Brett Favre in 2008 show up LOUD with full banners and signs supporting Aaron Rodgers and the Packer players/workers during Packer spring and summer training camp.

"""And now the Packers are to give away the MVP 2 out of the last 3 years """

Actually, he was the MVP in 2020 and 2021. He's not the MVP anymore. In 2022, he was a very, very average QB by every statistical measure. It was the worst season of his career as a starter. He threw as many interceptions as he did in the three previous seasons combined.

His Adjusted Net Yards/attempt was at an all-time low of less than 6 yards/attempt. He had 8 fumbles, more than the two previous seasons.

Rodgers has had a great career here, but the Aaron Rodgers of March 23, 2023, isn't the MVP. He's a very average starter. And if you look at his age, he's a real good starter for his age, but he's the worst version of himself since he became a starter.

This is the guy we're trading, not the HOF 4 time MVP. That guy is gone.

He’s not coming back. He won’t play another down here. Right or wrong it’s time to move on. I’m not sure the conspiracy/oppression theories help, but if they do good luck. You just indicated that you were cheering for Favre over Rodgers. If you’d won that we’d never have had to go through this I suppose. Learning to let go is a good thing in sports.

My point here:

"Hopefully Packer fans are smart enough to see through it and as with Brett Favre in 2008 show up LOUD with full banners and signs supporting Aaron Rodgers and the Packer players/workers during Packer spring and summer training camp."

is and was that Packer fans should support Aaron Rodgers now in 2023 as they did Favre in 2008.

My point was NOT that Packers fans should have wanted Favre to start in 2008 over Rodgers.

Favre without Holmgren to restrain him - was an interception machine and a loose cannon - even in his prime athletic years, but Brett was durable and provided stability at the QB position and this kept the Packers winning.

The change from Favre to Rodgers in 2008 was not because Brett was "over the hill"

Brett's 2007 Passer Rating was 6th in the NFL among 32 starting QB's and QB's with more than 105 passing attempts - behind only Brady (who benefitted his entire career from his team having hall of fame weapons on offense and a top defense leaving NE ahead and with good field position when receiving the ball), Roethlisberger, Garrard, Manning and Romo.

The change from Favre to Rodgers in 2008 was because the Packers had a quarterback in Aaron that in HIS ATHLETIC PRIME and - INTELLECTUAL PRIME - and Aaron is still not far removed from his prime - WAS A BETTER QUARTERBACK THAN BRETT IN BRETT'S ATHLETIC PRIME AND INTELLECTUAL PRIME.

There is no indication that this is true of Jordan Love at this point and that is why the Packers should no more exercise Jordan's 5th year option come May 1st than the Giants with Daniel Jones last May 1st despite Jones having 36 more starts than the 1 start Jordan Love has had.

That is also why the Packers should not trade Aaron Rodgers and Aaron should continue to be the Packer starter in 2023-24.

However, whatever may happen with Aaron Rodgers, the Packers should not exercise Jordan Love's 5th option on May 1, 2023.

Prior to 2011 rookies could sign contracts for longer than 5 years and Aaron's rookie 2005 contract was for 5 years and the Packers did not give him a new contract until October 31, 2008 - Aaron's 4th year as a Packer - and after 7 starts after week 7.

Aaron in his first year as a starter in the NFL - with a Packer defense that was ranked 22nd - threw 28 touchdown passes against 13 interceptions, passed for 4,038 yards and was 6th in passer rating among 32 starting QBs and QB's with more than 149 passing attempts behind only Rivers, Pennington, Warner, Brees and Manning. Expectations for Jordan Love - should he be the 2023-24 starter - should be no less, given the Packers are one year removed from a team that was 13-3, 13-3, and 13-4.

I was in support of the Packers moving on from Brett after 2007, but the Packers - as with Aaron - should have been honest and direct with Brett in March 2008 and let Brett know if they wanted him or didn't want him and Brett was certainly worth more than the 4th round draft choice the Packers received for him - from once again the colluding 31 Billionaire NFL Owners seeking to place Brett in largest media market, New York, with the Jets then, as now. If all the Packers were going to get for Brett in 2008 was a 4th round draft choice, they should have released Brett as Brett requested in July 2008 and let Brett find a team that he wanted to play for.

We are not in 2023 in a 2008 Brett Favre Aaron Rodgers situation as far as the relative skills of the 3 quarterbacks are concerned.

Jordan Love of 2023 is not Aaron Rodgers of 2008.

And Aaron Rodgers in 2023 is not Brett Favre in 2008.

From having watched the Brett Favre of 2007 and the Aaron Rodgers of 2022, there is no comparison:

Rodgers is the real deal and true leader.

He is a once in lifetime quarterback.

Favre had terrific physical skills and durability but had turned into an interception machine, especially at critical times, and it wasn't that Brett was being pressured by on rushing lineman or that Brett's injuries were the cause or that a receiver fell down or the ball bounced off a receiver's hand - which is usually the case when Aaron throws an interception, it was just Brett trying to be HERO, FORCING THROWS.

Brett threw 336 career interceptions in the regular season - 3.3% of his pass attempts - and 30 in the post season - 3.8% of his pass attempts.

Aaron by comparison has thrown 105 interceptions in the regular season - 1.4% of this pass attempts - and 13 in the post season, 1.7% of his pass attempts.

Brett in regular season and post season threw 552 touchdown passes and 366 interceptions.

Aaron by comparison has thrown 520 total touchdown passes and 118 total interceptions.

Just because I'm curious, as my initial thought before everything went into the "darkness" here lol...

I wanted to trade J. Love to SF because I felt they had that type of offense that fit Love better than what we have here. A more commander and his weapons approach rather than what we have in an almost total reset scenario. I wanted to trade Lance for Love straight up. Why? Because chances are Lance needed one more year, and so he could sit behind Rodgers, with the benefit of the humble character in Watson picking Rodger's brain for 1 more year. I viewed this setting as optimal in allowing both the previous NDS players to enter their prime for the 2024 season.

I also wanted Love to excel and I think Purdy and Love are very similar quarterback styles. Far more than Love to Rodgers even. Patient and poised in the pocket waiting for a weapon to open up. Where Rodgers is more methodical, and that's what I think Lance needs - to know when to run and ball, and when to sit and throw based on coverage reads and experience. Since, Lance could be that shifty QB we need, which seem to break down more defenses as of late.

But now I'm on the train of Rodgers to SF (because I don't think Rodgers wants to stay) and trade for Lance + picks because I think the Jets have become too stubborn in their approach... What do you think?

This is nonsense. Look at the bottom line: One Super Bowl each, a bunch of conference championship losses for each, although Favre managed to win two. Three legit MVPs for each. 1 cheap MVP by default for Rodgers.

Different paths to more or less the same place.

Just returned from my therapist. We explored the symptoms of Gute Syndrome that has me reading every Jets news story from every ESPN talking head.

I just know Rodgers has not declined like Biden and that the real cause of his down year was his broken thumb and rookie receivers. He now has a chip on his shoulder to prove the world wrong again.

He is gonna hit the jungle for the plant medicine and play next season as the Ayahuasca MYP.

GUTE, after watching the Bears get two 1s, two 2s and a player from the Panthers just to move down 8 spots in the draft, ya gotta hold out for two 1s for Rodgers.

Gute do you Love Jordan Love? Ya better cause you job depends on it

"Bottom Line".

Spoiled and such lack of appreciation and so unrealistic - failure to grasp reality of the NFL and life.

Must be youth?

Have not lived life long enough and been a Packer fan long enough.

NFC Teams - Seasons in the playoffs since Aaron Rodgers became Packer QB in 2008:

1) Green Bay 11 (1 QB Rodgers 11)
2) Seattle 10 (2 different QBs - Hasselbeck 1 and Wilson 9)
3) Eagles 9 (several different QBs - McNabb 2, Vick 1, Foles 3, Josh McCown/Wentz 1, Hurts 2)
4) Saints 8 (1 QB Brees 8)
5) Vikings 7 (several different QBs - Tavaris Jackson 1, Favre 1, Joe Webb 1, Bridgewater 1, Keenum 1, Cousins 2)
6) 49ers 6 (several different QBs - Alex Smith 1, Colin Kaepernick 2, Garoppolo 2, Purdy 1)
7) Cowboys 6 (2 different QBs - Romo 2, Prescott 4)
8) Falcons 6 (1 QB Ryan 6)
9) Panthers 5 (2 different QBs - Delhomme 1, Newton 4)
10) Cardinals 5 (several different QBs - Warner 2, Stanton/Palmer/Lindley 1, Palmer 1, Murray 1)
11) Giants 4 (2 different QBs - Manning 3, Jones 1)
12) Rams 4 (2 different QBs - Goff 3, Stafford 1)
13) Commanders 3 (3 different QBs - Robert Griffin, Cousins, and Alex Smith)
14) Buccaneers 3 (1 QB Brady 3)
15) Lions 3 (1 QB Stafford 3)
16) Bears 3 (2 QBs Cutler 1, Trubisky 2)

I have posted above the number of years that NFC teams have reached the playoffs during Aaron Rodgers 15 years as Packer starting QB.

As you can see, no NFC team has had more seasons in which they were in the playoffs than the Packers with Rodgers over those 15 years.

The chief difference between the 15 other teams and the Packers is that Aaron Rodgers was the starting QB for the Packers and NOT for the other 15 NFC teams.

During those 15 years no NFC team has won more Superbowls than the Packers.

I presume that those Packer fans complaining about Aaron Rodgers - even through they have been treated to the playoffs more than any other NFC team's fans - because the Packers have won "only" 1 Superbowl are probably about 40 years old or younger because such lack of appreciation and failure to grasp reality would certainly not exist for those older, especially those born in the 1950s that received a glimpse of Starr's and the Packers greatness and then loyally lived and died with the Packers from 1968 through 1991, when the Packer fans only saw the playoffs 2 years - 1972 and strike shortened 1982.

We shall see how many of those RELATIVELY new Packer fans that COMPLAIN that the Packers with Rodgers as QB, have ONLY won 1 Super Bowl, despite being in the playoffs more than any other NFC team, in more NFC playoff games than any other team, and in more NFC championship games than any other NFC QB, are still around watching each Packer game to the bitter end each week after the Packers miss the playoff 3 years in a row, never mind 10 years in a row and 21 of 23.

I bet 95% of those complaining about Aaron Rodgers will be gone long before the Packers experience 3 missed playoff seasons in a row.
