#PackersDaily: The depth is real

Lots of times during the offseason, coverage of any NFL team will trumpet the "depth" of talent across the roster, only for said depth never to manifest itself on Sundays. When it comes to the wide receiver position in Green Bay, the depth is real.

Hey, Aaron: We are going to Barcelona and other locations in Spain this August. What do you recommend in Barcelona?

Went there in 2019:

First Tier:

1. DO NOT MISS the INTERIOR of Sagrada Familia! I've travelled all over the world, and I consider it the greatest man-made structure on earth. Also, get your tickets in advance and you'll skip the longest lines--we didn't do a tour, but in retrospect, I'd probably choose to.

2. A "guided" bus tour (you get earphones--sit on the upper deck) is a great way to see the cool architecture of the city; it's too spread out to do easily any other way.

3. Absolutely allow yourself time to wander the streets of Barri Gotic (the old Gothic Quarter) and eat tapas; it's the best "immerse yourself in Barcelona" activity.

Second Tier:

4. Park Guell

5. If you're a history buff, the Roman ruins under Musea d’História de la Ciuta are cool.

6. There are LOTS of things we didn't get to do which sound interesting.

Agreed on Sagrada Familia. Absolutely breathtaking and not to be missed.

Someone I know went to Barcelona, but only looked at Sagrada Familia from the outside.
It made me crazy to hear of their wasted opportunity. It's like hearing "We went to Italy and Greece, but only ate at McDonalds."

Aaron, I'd argue "The depth is real" at almost every position on this team (coincidentally, I was just thinking about this last night)
No team has great third-string depth, but our second string, at almost every position is pretty damned good.
QB is okay--not fantastic, but I think Clifford and Pratt can win games in the NFL.
WR is outstanding--currently Wicks, Reed, and Melton
RB is excellent--Dillon and Lloyd
TE is excellent--Kraft
OT is very good--Morgan
C is "wait and see" but I like Monk
G is also wait and see, but I expect Glover or Jennings to be solid
DL is excellent--Brooks, Wooden, Slaton
DE is outstanding--VanNess, Enagbare
LB is "wait and see," but if we consider nickel to be our base, and Walker and Cooper to be our starters, then McDuffie and Hopper/Wilson are solid
CB looks great--Valentine and King, I'd say
S looks good--McKinney and Bullard start, so AJ Jr. and Williams (who I like a lot)

Seriously, I think if we started our entire second string, we could win some games, and at least be competitive. I also want to mention how VALUABLE it is to have that "iron sharpens iron" quality on a roster. Practicing against quality guys improves everyone.

Your assessment is closer to where I'm at. Agreed on Ballentine over King, at least for now. I'm not on the King bandwagon. He's a late 7th round pick who got lit up a lot as a college CB last year. He has a lot to prove. Being publicly angry about where he was drafted does not count for anything.

"Got lit up a lot...last year." Well, not really. The only player who lit him up was Marvin Harrison Jr., who lit up EVEYONE.
NO one caught a TD against King last year, and he covered every team's #1 receiver.

Good to know, thanks, no TDs allowed is a good thing. Edit: I looked into this more, and apparently he did get beaten repeatedly at the Senior Bowl, so it wasn't just Harrison.

I'm a little confused by some of your comments. "NO PROOF" of Dillon and Clifford, but YES for AJ Jr. and Williams?
I say Center is "wait and see" and you say "NO PROOF." ??

For second string, I'll stand by Kraft being "excellent" compared to other teams' second-string TEs.

I think Morgan, a first-round pick, as a backup OT is definitely a "very good" situation. (I didn't even mention Dillard and Jones)

I agree that Ballentine is the backup til King proves himself, but just one year ago King was considered a likely first-round pick. I think he'd prove to be a good backup to Nixon.
