If the message is getting the band back together, then it's got to be the original lineup and not Tommy and Eric in Ace and Peter's makeup.

Lazard was signed by the Jets.
At least we know now that Lazard, Cobb and others were the Inner Circle. Thus they knew for a long long time he was not retiring and would try and get them new contracts if and when he had to choose his team.
They kept their lips sealed. They also knew the pack probably couldn't afford them so they were going somewhere and Rodgers was going to help them with that.
This "Oh its my life and this is a huge decision" was total bullshit he was stalling to get his guys contracts first before committing putting a gun to the new team.

There were definitely signs such as Cobb having ankle surgery this offseason. I am going to love watching to see how the Jet fans react to Rodgers choosing his aging & over the hill players (Lazard being the exception) to bring with him to NY. Cobb & Big Dog should just be coaches at this point. Maybe someone has stats on how well Big Dog was as a blocker this year, but I am not sorry to see any of them go. Even Lazard due to what it would have taken to resign him with him being a legitimate #3 WR.

Knock, do you believe Rodgers insists on having everyone on the list? C'mon man, you're a reasonable guy, you have to know better than that.

Maine,
No idea! Seriously, just the fact there is a list is preposterous don't you think? Just how well will that sit with NY fans? If Rodgers needs a support group there has to be a lot of them in NY right?

Actually, I don't. As I remember Brady wanted Gronk.

It doesn't matter Knock, Jet fans haven't figured out what a horrible QB, and terrible person Rodgers is. Silly people actually think he is a leader that will get them to the promise land. They should have checked in here for the truth : ) Take care my friend.

A whole lot of people are going to be very sorry the Packers lost a very good QB plus other players....the haters don't like his personality, the way he lives his life, the way the sports world pays too much attention to him, well be happy next few season when the Pack is 5 or 6 wins and in the dumpster....and I will be here to let you all know how stupid you are...

Amazing how some fans struggle to move on... Eventually, there was always going to be a new QB1 in GB...2023 (finally) seems to be the year.--- I was happy when Bart became QB1 way back when & many others.... I'm looking forward to the change & "newness" of the coming era. --- As always, the challenge & quest for success is the excitement....even from a fans' distance.

I'll be perfectly at peace if Love struggles in his debut as a starter and Rodgers wins a superbowl in NY.

I'll be right here, still posting, and still good with my opinion, knowing the Packers made the correct decision.

Flip the outcome; Rodgers struggles in NY and Love exceeds expectations and has a wonderful campaign in 2023.

You won't be anywhere to be found..Book it.

We couldn’t make it to the SuperBowl with these guys, and we just had a losing season with them, as well. It seems like their roster spots and salaries are expendable.

I so much look forward to the Summer of Love. Go Pack Go!

The table has been set - Packers have cleared cap room this year with expectation they will have to absorb full hit in 2023 for AR trade. Jones and Bahktari will not be part of trade, they will stay as part of strong support cast for Love.

I enjoyed watching Montana with KC, Favre with Jets (not so much with MN), Brady with TB, all having modest success, etc without losing appreciation of what they did with their original teams. I will wish 12 well with his new team unless they play Green Bay.

I'm not thrilled with the possibility of returning to 5-12 and living through the 70s and 80s again would be tough, but it's time to not depend upon a 39 year old quarterback.

Nags,
Rodgers adds 8.7M to the cap problem. His dead cap hit is 40.3M. He has no future cap hits for the Packers unless they don't execute this trade until after June 1st. At which point it would be approximately 15.8M this year and 24.5M next year. Not that you'll read this, but I thought you might want to know as a purveyor of Green Bay Packer information.

The Jets won’t sit tight until June 2nd to have Rodgers on the roster, so I think that’s not really an option, MPF. I think we’re stuck with the $40.3M hit. Oh well.

Get it out of the system sooner rather than later. This year is recovery and blooding a new QB and maybe the real LaFleur offense. Take the lumps and grow and heal the cap while doing so. We do avoid the much bigger hit coming if he started the season.

Tomorrow is the big day Rodgers agrees to be traded. He cant say he is going to the Jets, the Packers can only make that happen. On the later one analyst said the Pack dont have to be in any hurry. Rodger doesnt show up for OTA's or show his face at the facility until training camp and his bonus doesnt have to be paid till September, so in essence they can put the screws to the Jets and hold out for mo. Mo of everything.
If Jets get pissed who are they going to get now? Not a lot of talent out there looking for work.
Game, Set Match, Green Bay.

One aspect no one has mentioned is although the Jets are saying the right things, there is a strong chance that NY players may resent these moves. If the younger Jet players are bumped to accommodate Rodgers boys there will be resentment! It could get ugly if he freezes out players there. Remember the New York press and fans won’t be as kind as the 🧀 heads!

If he wants more than Lazard among the FAs. it’s going to be interesting to see how that makes them better. Maybe Lewis as a role player. It seems pretty preposterous to be after Cobb if he expects him to see the field absent injuries.

I am ok with Love taking over but it’s very possible Rodgers like Brady can lead another team to the Super Bowl while the Packers sink to the bottom of the North , then who’s to blame ?

We'll get to see if Matt can coach or not.

There is talent in GB but won't be able to blame AR anymore for not taking what is available and trying to always make the big play without big play targets.

If Watson grows and they add top TE, Love will have multiple targets before it was all 17.

As much as a am tired of Rodgers and ready to move on, I think most of us wish him well and hope he does good. Especially if him being really good improves a draft pick next year. What were we this year with him? A sub .500 team and we wasted not only the Deal of the Year with Denver, but didn't really get to evaluate Love under game conditions. Which was crucial with a $20 million salary for love looming.
The fact that the Jets are signing Rodgers receiving buddies justifies the fact that the Jets don't need Elijah Moore, Denzel Mims, or Jeremy Ruckert and Green Bay needs to demand them to be in the deal. Not only does it fill 3 holes on our roster with 3 good, highly drafted players that could easily make our roster at WR and TE, THEY ARE ON CHEAP CONTRACTS. $5 million for all 3 is a pittance for 3 quality players. The Jets would be out of this deal if some other good QB was available but there isn't any other choice for them. It seems clear that the Pack won't get 5 picks back for Rodgers so all the more reason to ask for good, young, cheap players back as well. We need more than just 2 picks in this deal.
Trading players they don't need is easier and less painfull than giving up picks. And all 3 players were on the Packers top 100 players in their drafts those years.
