Last year we had almost the worst special teams in the league. If we can get that to a respectable top fifteen along with a top ten defense, we can be as good as any team in the league. So far it seems to me that we have been leery of these deficiencies and have tailored the roster to fix them. If we stay healthy, we will be tough to beat . Go pack Go!

Silverstein's article about back-office disarray and turmoil is an example of fearmongering and disinformation. Murphy recognised the dangers of ceding too much control to a GM when Ted Thompson, as great as he was in his prime, began to falter. In order to guard against a similar situation, he decided to retain authority over hiring and firing the coach. And, as Mr. Nagler pointed out, Gutekunst was apparently heavily involved in the coaching selection process anyway. Further, Russ Ball is an acknowledge cap and contract master, so what is the problem?
