Switching gears here for a moment, today is Bart Starr’s 85th birthday. in honor of one of the greatest players in Packer and NFL history, and having been fortunate enough to meet him in person on a few occassions, one of the kindest and most decent people the sports world has ever seen, here’s to wishing Bart Starr a Happy Birthday. May God bless Bart Starr.

Best of luck to Matt Lafleur as the Packers’ new Head Coach.

Aaron.. it is an understatement to say that i appreciate these videos that you do.

I found it interesting that Gute said Rodgers had a roll to play in hiring Lafleur. He even had AR call his new HC to be. A lot of the press con revolved around AR. Lets all hope the big chip is back and #12 makes the league take notice again.

Dash Riprock's picture

Of course he had a role in his hiring. I predicted this from day one and people thought I was nuts. I even predicted a wife and two kids. I knew nothing about the guy. Went on gut. I see him at the airport and out walks a wife and two little kids and I couldn't help but laugh. He was the perfect "fit" for Green Bay according to Murphy. John Kirk said to look for the word "fit". He was right on that. He mentioned it many times. None of this surprises me. This was the perfect guy for Aaron Rodgers and that's not necessarily a good thing for the team.

I miss John Kirk. A lot of people are saying he's out there waiting, watching, hoping someone will extend a hand to welcome him back.

John, if you can read this, please come back. There's underutilized bandwidth and empty server space in your absence. Usage of ALL CAPS has decreased 67% since you left. Ain't no sunshine, man. Ain't no sunshine...

Leotis, lots of people actually enjoyed reading Kirk. I was one of them. So he pulled a Barry Sanders and retired at the very top with tons of life left to give to this place. I don't like it anymore than you do but I am not crying for him to come back like you are. I am coming to terms with it yes and in some ways admire him for doing what he did so quickly and out of the blue. I didn't know he would do what he did if they hired Matty Nice. I must have missed him say that but he clearly has retired earlier than most would. Maybe he'll come back for a few posts just to say hi to everyone and fill us in on what he knows. He was the only guy here who pretty much had inside information which is why I really liked reading what he had to say. I actually was thinking of starting a Go Fund Me page where people here could possibly contribute money to Kirk so he could come back. Not a lot but hopefully enough would contribute to make it worth his time. He was that valuable in my opinion. Probably won't do it but I did think about it. I wish the guy well.

We all have our own way of coping with loss, Dash. If it makes you feel better to lash out (Lashing Dash?) by accusing me of crying, please, knock yourself out. I'll find my own way through the pain.

You know as well as I do John T. Kirk was holding this place together with boogers and duct tape. His originality, insights, and sheer volume of posts carried CHTV. To me he was like Willis Reed limping out of the tunnel against all odds. Who's going to fill that void? Lare? Doug? Croat? The answer is NO ONE, Dash. No one is going to fill the vast chasm left by Kirk's untimely retirement.

I think in some way I blame you for his departure. He knew, even with his insider knowledge and journalist street cred, he couldn't compete with your ability to see the future. That's your cross to bear, Dash. It's the albatross around your neck. As long as you walk this earth, Lee Harvey Riprock, your name will be associated with the swan song of THE John T Kirk.

Rak47's picture

I have to disagree Dash, because the right guy for Aaron Rodgers will also be the right guy for the team. They're synonymous and cannot be separated unlike conjoined twins. If Rodgers succeeds the team will succeed as well. If Rodgers fails the team will fail, it's as simple as that. So if LaFleur ends up being the right coach for Rodgers he will also automatically be the right coach for the team.

"If Rodgers succeeds the team will succeed as well"

Rodgers did succeed this season big time and we were 6-9-1. Look at the numbers. Total success.

I saw the press conference. Not here but live in WI. This guy does not command a room like Mike Pettine or a Mike Holmgren. He has zero presence plus he lacked confidence and looked scared. If you did't know him you would think he's the water boy. Matty Nice is the perfect name for him as he's no alpha male. Perfect for Rodgers though. Murphy hired him for an image he wanted to portray mainly with women to generate more revenue and from that perspective it's probably going to be a hit. Women I have spoken with love the guy already. Listened to Colin Cowherd's video about LaFluer and he said what I thought. He's over his head. Zero experience, high 20's in offensive ranking, looks like a kid, has zero command presence with other players. How the hell is he going to command an entire team of players when two sources said he couldn't even get players attention as offensive coordinator. Sorry but sticking with my initial assessment. This is a disaster hire.

Dash

Jonathan Spader's picture

He looked like a scared child in his 1st press conference, but keep that in mind it's a 39 year old in his 1st press conference. He wasn't hire on to be a public speaker even though that's part of the job. He was hired to improve the offense and bring the Packers into 2019. I'll judge his hired based off the product on the field and not based off of his public speaking skills. Do people call BB with NE a disaster because he chooses not to speak eloquently?

Barnacle's picture

WOW......Jonathon says about our new head coach........

“Scared child”

“Not hired to be a public speaker”

Here is a recommendation for you Mr Spader.........."Judge not lest ye be judged.

Jonathan Spader's picture

Been awhile since a Barnacle clung to me can't say that I missed it. I have excelled as a public speaker Barnacle and have years of experience. It's one of the most common fears out there. As usual you've missed the point I was making not that I'm surprised consider that you've never once contributed to this blog in any sort of positive fashion aka original contribution. MLF was hired on as a HC and not as a public speaker this was his first press conference and he is still in shock at being hired on as a HC of the Packers at only 39. I'm saying cut him some slack as a speaker and instead judge him by the way the Packers offense performs in 2019. The name Barnacle suits you well.

RIP Kirk.

Let the name be forever silenced at CHTV.

Done!

Dash Riprock's picture

As long as Leotis is here it's not going to happen. He talks about him a lot all in negative ways. Why he does it who knows. I don't think Kirk ever threatened him that I know of.

“Don’t start crying yet, Matt. Wait till you see the roster.”

ROFL.

Golden Retriever's picture

Anyone know why the Packers took CHTV’s press credentials away? I have to think it’s because they aren’t ass-kissing toadies. It’s a shame, because I think Aaron asks very intelligent, out-of-the-box questions and offers a unique perspective on things.

Jonathan Spader's picture

"Aaron asks very intelligent, out-of-the-box questions and offers a unique perspective on things."

Pretty sure you just answered your own question there...

Rak47's picture

I'd have to agree JS. CHTV is unique in that it lets it's posters say how they truly feel with minimal censorship. I have a feeling the Packers don't like that, if you ever check out their official site, their writers don't question anything the team does at all. They're like puppet writers. And their Q&A box is usually reduced to smart alec remarks and assinine anecdotes for responses. Only thing imho their site is good for is injury reports, roster identification, and player interviews. It's really not the best place for posting though. However if you want all your Packer news from the perspective of looking through rose colored glasses then the official Packer site is for you. Personally I come to CHTV for the unique perspectives and intelligent debate and commentary amongst Packer fans, not to be spoonfed a bowl of shit cereal disguised as sunshine flakes.

Dash Riprock's picture

I came here after being shadow banned at Packers.com for my now world famous "Looks like Jesus plays like Jordy" phrase I made up in August to describe Kumerow in the preseason. Simply mentioning Kumerow looking like Jesus by me was enough to "rock the boat" over there. I couldn't believe it but they did. I then came here and while you do have the freedom to say more things, I noticed the people and how they talk is no different than over there. Most people here are just the same. All positive rah rah types. I noticed when I first got here Taryn was getting destroyed by everybody simply for having a different voice and wasn't the rah rah type. The majority of you are believe it or not. The same as Packers.com. The reason is simple. Most of you are scared of getting dislikes. Get rid of the dislike and like feature here and you will notice people actually voicing their true opinions. 100% guaranteed!! To me this like/dislike feature is immoral and a form of social bullying. It's time has come to end it so people can simply voice an opinion and not be judged. It's time people, it's time!!

Dash

Jonathan Spader's picture

The likes and dislikes only have as much power as you give them Dash. Who cares who likes or dislikes your posts? Just say what you want. I use the likes and dislikes as a way of gauging how many people have viewed what I said. I don't really care if they agree or disagree with what I say.

I have to completely disagree with CHTV being just like packers.com though. We have a lot more commentators than just Taryn that put out hard truths and unpopular opinions. However, we are all Packer fans who WANT the Packers to WIN we just get frustrated as hell when they keep getting in their own way and shoot themselves in the foot for 8 years straight!

Community Guy's picture

i generally agree with your comment Rak47; however, i would say that, on his mid-week chats, Mike Spofford has posted a few questions which can challenge the dominant narrative.. i think he is a smart guy, and i am not ready to put him in a box. on the other hand, Wes Hod has just come across as such a company man that i stopped reading his stuff.
