Packers will keep David Bakhtiari on PUP

The All Pro will miss at least the first six weeks of the season.

The Packers will be without the services of their All-Pro left tackle for the first six weeks of the season, per NFL Network.

Having an Elgton Jenkins who is able to slide over and play left tackle at a high level certainly makes this a bit easier to swallow.

Bakhtiari tore his ACL seven months ago during practice, an injury he called a “fluke thing." Immediately after surgery Jan. 7, Bakhtiari began his journey to strengthen his repaired left knee and build his confidence through rehabilitation.

The Packers signed Bakhtiari to a four-year contract extension last November, putting him under contract through 2024. A former fourth-round pick, he’s started 118 games for the Packers since 2013, winning first team All Pro honors twice and second team All Pro honors three times.

I wish he were more ready yet I understand the decision. After all, the team has him for the next four years and don’t want him to end up in and out of the lineup like Bulaga.

We knew he would not be on the turf until the start of NOV. He has an ACL that occured in late December'20. They do not heal magically over-night.

They got the rebate on his deal. The accountants are happy. No big deal.

In no way is this a surprise! ACL is at least a 9 month recovery and for big men usually closer to 12 months. Add the fact the Packers medical staff is very conservative and there was no way he wasn't going on PUP. It's the right move anyway. You have to protect the investment you made in him.

We all want him out there but they must put the players safety needs before the teams or even the players desire to play.

Would much rather have him available the second half of the season fully healed heading into the playoffs than bring him back too early. OL will be fine.

Bummer news! I have some concerns about the OL. We could have two rookies starting, with Bak out now lets hope their are no more injuries. It was said we have one of out deepest lines, we are going to find out. GPG!

Clifton and Tauscher for Larry Beightol. The best make the squad, regardless of age.

He needs to heal agreed. Anyone that thinks not having bak for 6 to 8 weeks is not a big deal needs thier head examined. Nothing to do with jenkins ability but everything to do with not having one of your top best players at a huge position.

It's the smart move and the safe move. We want him back, fully recovered and ready to go. Thanks, Since '61

Understandable and keeps with Green Bay's MO of waiting at least 9 months before bringing back players who've had ACLs. They never seem to rush them back.
