Packers sign WR Malik Taylor

With a little less than a week before the Packers hit the field for training camp, they had one spot open on their 90 man offseason roster.

That spot has now been filled.

The team annouced Friday afternoon that they have signed Malik Taylor, a wide receiver out of Ferris State University.

Any specs on this player? Height, Weight, Speed. Anything? Is Ferris State an accredited school?
Which conference or more importantly which division are they in?

I guess it's a mystery but it will work out in the end.
Thanks, Since '61

small school, Ferris State. Pro day performance:

- 6-2 211

- 4.44/4.47

- 4.02 shuttle

- 6.81 3 cone

- 36" vertical

- 10'6" broad jump

- 11 reps of 225 lbs

Packerswire claimed the team interest in him back in April, stating "Although his senior season was mostly wrecked by a hamstring injury, Taylor (6-2, 211) was a playmaker for Ferris State in both 2016 and 2017. He caught 47 passes for 1,017 yards and five touchdowns as a sophomore in 2016 and 61 passes for 901 yards and six touchdowns as a junior in 2017.

Most interestingly, as I posted over at Acmepackingcompany.com:

Per Packerswire "Taylor also has experience returning kickoffs (17 returns for 489 yards, 25.8-yard average)."

To me this starts to make him much more interesting. A larger player with excellent short area burst and agility, almost 30 lbs heavier than Davis) with return ability (no reference to punts though) could have more positional flexibility and durability than Davis. Hopefully this signing will add further zest to the returner competition.

Coldworld I appreciate you taking the time to provide some data on Taylor.

His height, weight and speed look good. I hope that you are correct and the Packers are looking at him as a possible return man. I doubt that he makes the team but if Davis fizzles again or is injured It would be good to have a player like Taylor on the PS (if he sticks through TC) to take over the KR duties.

The School is a division 2 school with a 49% graduation rate. Yikes!

Thanks, Since '61

According to 3sigma he's 6-1 (6' 1.3")
40 = 4.46
20 = 2.64
10 = 1.66
SS = 4.04

Also RAS = 8.33 so continuing the trend of getting top athletes.

He sounds like a PS candidate if he shows anything in camp.

He's just a place holder for Campbell's eventual return.

Cue the Kumerow sycophants...

This guy is camp fodder.

Best of luck to player #90, I hope he changes the NFL.

Are you ready for some football?

My brother and sister both went to Farris St. Small school. Even though the college has a 49% graduation rate, my brother and sister both graduated with flying colors and went on to successful careers. Just thought I would share this riveting information....lol.

It's rare that a Bulldog alumni makes an NFL squad, although Zach Sieler, DE, is currently on the Ravens roster

Hey, if he can return kicks well, he’s at least got a chance.

Encouraging signing for the bottom of the roster. Thanks Coldworld for the info!

Yeah, his size, speed, athleticism bodes well at KR. No doubt. Knowing they've had him on their radar is also a plus. Nice depth add if anything else.
