Packers Sign Ted Thompson To New Contract

General manager Ted Thompson signed a new, multi-year contract with the Green Bay Packers on Friday.

Green Bay Packers general manager Ted Thompson was signed to a new, multi-year contract on Friday, team president Mark Murphy announced. Terms of the contract were not released.

“We are thrilled to have Ted lead our football operations for the foreseeable future,” Murphy said in a press release. “He has done an outstanding job of building this team. We worked on this and reached an agreement in December, and we are pleased to be able to make the announcement today.”

Thompson has been the general manager since 2005, and the Packers have been in the playoffs in three of the past four seasons under his guidance. The team has also accumulated a 40-24 regular season record since 2007.

“This is a great organization and I am very humbled and appreciative,” said Thompson. “Green Bay is a special place and I am honored to work with such a great group of people that have all contributed to our success.”

Offseason complete, everything else is gravy. Just knowing that our structure is intact for at least another 3-5 years makes me very happy.

It will be interesting to see if those McCarthy and Thompson bashers come out of hiding and eat crow!

They won't eat crow. They will continue the same pathology of re-framing the issue to fit what they deem evidence in support of their "point."

On a completely unrelated thread....

What do you think would happen if the Packers Offense played the Packers Defense?

Would Tramon shut down Jennings? Matthews eat Clifton? Starks not be able to run? The middle of the D exposed by Rogers? Dom versus Mike???

Ted is just warming up on building a superior team. I thought Ted should have won exec. of the year instead of Dimitorf of Atlanta. He did a good job, but Ted outshined everyone this year.

IN TED WE TRUST!!!

how the hell did ted NOT win exec of the year? nobody else came close to doing what ted did this year filling all of the holes on the team with valuable depth. bill polian is the ONLY guy that came close to having to deal with this many injuries and you saw how his team ran out of steam down the stretch.

and how did mccarthy NOT win coach of the year keeping his team focused and confident while their fellow teammates were dropping like flies?

Dimitrioff certainly didn't deserve it THIS year. That's a complete joke. What did he do this year? Signed Robinson and drafted Weatherspoon and Peters. That's 75 million for less production than TT got out of his UDFAs Zombo and Shields.

Bellicheck deserved the award much more. His draft was sick (Gronkowski, Hernandez, McCourty while stockpiling picks) and he switched Moss for Branch while moving up in this years draft.

But he got the coach of the year despite IMO being at best fifth. Tomlin, Mathis, McCarthy, and Haley all did a more impressive job coaching.

Post season awards are pretty stupid and almost always awarded a year or two after they are "deserved".

Finding a new WR coach could be problematic. Robinson has done a great job.

Why none of the bitching that use to accompany TT posts? I don't get it.

All the TT haters can take a long walk off a shirt pier. Real fans think, they don't just emote.

In fairness, everyone emotes. But some learn after a while to remain silent for longer before they vocalize about some emotional issue.
