Packers Sign LB Chase Thomas, OT Jeremy Vujnovich
In addition to the six players signed to future contracts from the practice squad on Monday, the Packers signed two more street free agents on Tuesday: linebacker Chase Thomas and offensive lineman Jeremy Vujnovich.
Thomas spent 14 games on the practice squad of the Atlanta Falcons during the 2013 season as a rookie, as well as time with the New Orleans Saints and Oakland Raiders during the preseason.
During his college years, Thomas was a productive player at Stanford, twice earning first-team All-Pac 12 honors. He had 50.5 tackles for a loss and 27.5 sacks over the course of his collegiate career, which rank fifth and fourth all-time respectively at Stanford.
Vujnovich is a first-year player out of Louisiana College, who took part in the Packers' rookie orientation camp on a tryout basis last offseason.

Look at Ted - going crazy on free agents.

He also just signed OT Aaron Admas, CB Antonio Dennard, center Garth Gerhart, WR Alex Gillett, RB Orwin Smith, and OG Andrew Tiller. Go, Ted, go.

I actually really like Thomas heading into the draft.
Atlanta play a 4-3 don't they?
He's not a DE... he's a 3-4 OLB.
This will be a better fit for him.

Atl does play a 43, 34 OLB MIGHT be a better fit. Honesly I would play him inside. He lacks speed and quickness, but made up for it w/ hustle and tenacity. Decent production in college but tested poorly at the combine and not much better at his pro day. We'll see...

I agree. They should take a look at this guy.

Same here. I thought Thomas was a pretty good OLB prospect going into the draft. I can't recall the rap on him though but maybe had to do with playing in space? We'll see.

Poor combine and pro day. Isn't fast or quick. Very marginal athleticism. Best fit probably as a ILB or MLB in a 43. Don't think he'll succeed as an OLB.

Chase Thomas was named an All-American for his play as a DE and LB in Stanford's 3-4 system. The talk on the Falcons boards is that he was slow, but had great numbers in his college career. I have hopes for him but I meen, come on, the Raiders cut him.

Yeah, no sense getting excited about these guys. I would assume that if there was an obvious spark of NFL talent he would have been gainfully employed by some NFL team.

Dujuan Harris was a Car salesman before the Packers signed him.
Don't write off any player. Not saying Chase Thomas will be a great player or anything. Just saying don't write off a player.
January 08, 2014 at 07:38 am
Nobody is writing anybody off. But let's not get any hopes up about guys who haven't been able to make a 53 man roster on crap teams.
January 08, 2014 at 08:19 am
Like DuJuan Harris or Jarrett Boykin in Jax? Why do you thing perennial losing teams are perennial losing teams? They don't know how to identify potential talent or construct a roster.
January 08, 2014 at 09:48 am
OK sorry. These two guys are obvious Pro Bowlers. TT does it again!!

Yeah, that's what everyone is saying.
Congrats on the adult conversation.

Signing guys that couldn't make Atlanta's 53. Awesome.
January 08, 2014 at 09:43 am
What's worse. We actually signed guys that couldn't make Jaguars roster..
Dujuan Harris and Jarrett Boykin.

+1... And thusly, the putrid proclamations of pessimistic Packer peeps preaching like p*ssies propels us into another offseason. How perfect.

I appreciate the alliteration.

Wow Chase!
over 50 tackle for loss, over 27 sacks, 9 FF in college!. a 4.8 40 puts him in the ball park, especially at MLB. Had a 3-4 round grade. I like him. Finally time to get rid of aj?
Wow!Vujnovich!
35 reps, your a strong mutha. & a 4.87 40 is also impressive as far as #'s go. Way 2 go ted! yea! seriously, yea!

Vujnovich showed some big strides in college. Some scouts said he had even matured to Div I caliber. No harm in working him out this off-season.
Chase had a very promising college career, and was ranked ridiculously high in the LB category. His combine was disappointing, and his tape does show that he's probably just a tad slow; missed huge plays by just inches. He is a sure tackler though which we sure could use.
