Packers reportedly releasing Isaiah Simmons
The veteran linebacker never looked comfortable in Jeff Hafley's scheme

It seems the Isaiah Simmons experiment will come to an end.
The #Packers are expected to release linebacker Isaiah Simmons, sources tell @CBSSports.

Simmons had a rough preseason, especially the first two contests against the Jets and Colts.
The preseason finale saw nominal improvement in his play from scrimmage and showed a player who could certainly help the Packers on special teams. Apparently, that was not enough to keep Simmon in Green and Gold.
The Packers signed Simmons to a one-year deal back in April. They will be on the hook for $167,500 in dead money.
Simmons was the eighth overall pick in the 2020 draft. After three seasons with the Cardinals, he spent two seasons with the Giants.
As a vested veteran, he is not subject to waivers and can sign with another team at any time.

I was glad the Packers gave him a fair shot with lots of playing time, anyway. They sure didn't dither around making a decision. Good luck to him elsewhere.

It's a shame but you can't say he wasn't given a shot. Super athlete but I think we've seen enough athletes in GB. We need football players. Best of luck, Isaiah.

Gute is enamored with RAS and speed and when all things are equal you should perhaps use that as a deciding factor, but football smarts also needs to be there. Unfortunately for Simmons he often didn't know where he needed to be.
I hope this means that Welch is on the team.
